# 4 is so inspiring, I would love to experience a hike like that. Your photography is perfect advertising for this part of Europe. Thanks for taking us along.

Thanks arperry, glad you liked that family shot in #4 - the Valais in Switzerland is waiting for your visit!

Beautiful set, Joe! That trail is not for the faint of heart.

Thanks John - actually it is basically a very easy, quite flat trail, as it follows the course of the water channel, and that of course comes with just a gentle incline. Overall, the trail leads through plenty of wooded areas and is absolutely not problems, except in the relatively few but exhilarating places where the channel crosses sheer rock faces, like the ones shown in #3 or in my later attachment. There, it is totally safe but one still has to be careful as it can be slippery if the boards are wet - but there are railings. A bit different on the walk in #4: wide and safe enough, but with children one has to be extra careful.

Joe, your photos show that there is virtually no end to the scenic beauty of Switzerland. BTW, I've pumped up the tires on my bike and dug out my helmet. I want to experience that exhilarating ride you mentioned in an earlier post (lol).

LOL John - I am happy to hear that I am THAT inspiring! Be careful, make sure your brakes work - maybe you can get an inflatable airbag nowadays for that split-second moment, should you need it! At my age though, I wouldn't do it any more: not only have I given up skiing, I have also sold my bike .....

Love the views of the waterfall. It's delightful and proves that a waterfall doesn't have to be tall to be impressive. Nicely done.

Thank you very much Kathy for your kind comment, glad to hear that you enjoyed the waterfall images.

I enjoy your photos of this area so very much. Beautifully captured. Makes you want to get out your hiking boots and walk from Huette to Huette, in the summer.

Thank you arperry for looking in on the mini-series again and your kind comment. The summer will come again, and the Hütten will be ready!

Ruthlessrider brings up an interesting point that had crossed my mind as well. Maybe there will be no need for those avalanche barriers in the future. A lack of snow and the resulting shortage of spring runoff could pose challenges.

Great challenges, to the entire water supply - these snow and icefields serve as slowly melting reservoirs to provide water into the dry summers - now these are dwindling. See my response to Ruthlessrider above.

Gorgeous photos. One wonders how Switzerland will change in the future with the onset of climate change. When I was there last year most of the ski resorts were closed because of the lack of snow.

Thank you Rr for looking in on my mini-series and your kind words. Yes, Switzerland, and many other skiing nations are already experiencing major problems with the effects of climate change: Less snow and for shorter durations. Our younger family members were skiing up at Whistler/Canada during Christmas/New Year and the lower runs were closed or not in good shape, so all skiing had to be done higher up - that's ok as long there still is a "higher up". Our own ski mountain Mount Baker here near us had set a world record for snowfall with 1140 inches 25 years ago, now the lower runs are also closed. Tough times are coming!

Another fine set, Joe! Interesting shot # 5. At first glance I thought that the land was terraced.

Thanks John, for your kind comment. At a first glance, it might seem so - but sorry, this is not Bali or Baguio, no rice terraces on these Swiss mountains. Just snow - sometimes ......

Love your photographs of the Swiss mountains, buildings and countryside weberwest. They brought back pleasant memories of a very enjoyable week (that was no where near long enough) spent touring out of Lucerne and Zurich. Beautiful scenery and lovely people. By far our favourite was by bus and train from Lucerne to the top of Jungfraujock and back, seconded by cruising on Lake Lucerne in a paddle steamer.

Thank you Richard for looking in again on my just today completed tour. I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed looking at these pictures and that they kindled some pleasant memories from these shores, glad to hear that you had a good time on the waters of Lake Lucerne. Interestingly, I just completed posting the last two segments of this short mini-series, and both of them feature the waters of Lake Lucerne as well as some spectacular views from Mount Rigi and finally a flamboyant sunrise - hopefully you can have a look at these two last posts as well.
Cheerio Mate!
