Good light, good light and good light! I have the most luck with songbirds when I have really good light. That allows a higher shutter speed and a lower ISO. They are fast buggers and take lots of practice and patience.

Nice shots. Love the Heron. I don't usually see them in the wide open. They are usually trying to hide when I have seen them.

It's intriguing for sure. I wasn't sure if I liked it or not until I looked at the download. Very sharp with great DOF. All the diagonal rods on the left are a bit distracting to me. A few less would have made it more pleasing to mu eye but you may not have been able to position yourself to achieve that.
