I'd very much appreciate your opinion on this one. Is it interesting, boring, confusing?

Do you need to know what the worker is doing, or is there a general appeal (lines and patterns)? Or just not your cuppa? :)

Thanks so much for your time!

Interesting. I would like more of a closeup of the worker. A little less of the other stuff.

O.k., fine. You want an opinion? I will give you one. It is not boring at all (but then again, I enjoy watching grass grow). Seriously, it is quite complex. You have many different patterns erupting within this photo. In addition to all of the hangers forming a leaning pattern, you also have 3 noticeable triangles all going in different directions. The ladder being one of the triangles. You may think that people would interpret it as boring because perhaps for other than the bright, red shirt, everything else is pastel. The composition is very good for this sort of thing. Good eye! At first glance, one may think it is off balance, but it far from it. Like I mentioned, you have the triangles, but you also have the opposing angles of the hangers vs. the stringers attached to them. The eye catcher is obviously the man in the red shirt.

It is also obvious as to what he is doing. He is growing dental floss. It is a pretty big industry in Montana.

First I though ......how annoying and wondered if I should just shut up or let you know.
Then I noticed (Download) and it filled my big screen and I got to see all that focus and DOF and the person on a step ladder and the plants that were going to climb up and fill all that with green in the springtime!
"Working" is right !

Its one of those that as you have said yourself many would walk by. What he or she is doing is not important. If is is important to any viewer there missing the point and not standing back and just appreciating the image.
That being said there is an awful lot going on for an image containing one small person. I half closed my eyes and saw a dreamy ethereal slightly surreal sort of image which i really liked. So I would crop off the two branch type things pointing on the right. Bit of cloning required to make a new ladder bottom and fill the space under the ladder. None of that is too difficult.
If you have Nik filters there is within Color efex pro one called film efex faded which achieves a great look and then apply a layer mask to bring our ladder person back to full strength. Takes away the clutter a little and leaves one really wondering what is going on here. Adds some intrigue and further mystery.
Saying all this Linda not sure what software you have or your skills at using it.
As it is the photo works but may have to potential to be a real wow that's good shot.
Just one mans humble opinion.

Fascinating image. The texture and offsetting angle are constantly vying for attention, then you're drawn to the man in the red shirt.

I like the Montana comment :o)

The download completely changed my opinion of it - love it that way.
Was totally "meh" before I opened the download.

This picture demands the viewer download and take a closer look to figure what is going on..then the complexity of it grabs you and makes you sit and study it in amazement for a while!!..therefore it absolutely works because we couldn't pass it by, we had to stop and ponder!!...good one!!

The download is interesting, but it's also pretty busy and I'm not sure what the story is.
