I concur with Longshadow. Depending on diameter expect to pay > $50 for a new filter that is highest quality. I buy B+W (Schneider) brand filters.

Another vote here for B&W filters. They are excellent.

I've done a lot of cold weather shooting... and mitts are the biggest problem... even setting up a tripod can be a challenge. My favourite tripod had 'clip' type levers to exend the legs; it's easier to use them with mitts. I recall one night about 50 years back, I wanted to get the 'sparkles' from new fallen snow under the streetlights. It was a challenge, but worth it...

Having a camera parka may not be so helpful. Having the camera under your real parka, keeps it warm. A camera parka will allow the camera to achieve ambient temperature unless you have a heating element within.

You can't keep your camera in your parka ... the camera jacket stays on the camera while in use (allows tripod mounting as well). Living in Alaska I can attest to its use and benefits.

A camera parka is highly recommended. It is like a jacket for your camera. Mine is used whenever being out in harsh weather conditions.

During the warm summer months go out in the night and take some photos of the stars/moon. Get familiar with using your camera in the dark. No matter how familiar you THINK you are with all the settings/buttons…when you turn out the lights you are in a totally different situation. Once there, think about your anticipated settings and set them BEFORE you go out in the cold/dark. Mini ajustments are a lot easier to make than an initial set up. Best of all…ENJOY the experience!

Excellent advise given here. Operating your camera in total darkness may be difficult. I have used a small flashlight while out alone photographing the aurora.. BUT you need to be certain it will not interfere with other photographers if in a group setting.
Another item to be aware of: cold drains batteries. Bring spares and keep them in a warm pocket or another warm place. Feet and hands get cold the quickest. I hope you share your photos for me to see!

The situation you describe has not been encountered by me. The site was just accessed via my phone. What was seen are the options to help you find products quickly.
Imho, there is no better place than B&H to purchase items. Their reputation is outstanding! Others have provided great suggestions in their response to you.

Both are excellent. David Busch has a writing style that for me works well. You also can't beat Steve Perry's publications and tips.

Yes, that happened with an item on my watch list. It went up by $100.00 but came down $100.00 shortly later. Ordered it but a few days later it came down again by just a few $$$s. Then it went up again. You do have to react fast though.
