I am wanting a new pocket camera. It doesn't have to actually be pocketable, so long as it can easily be worn on a belt. I had thought about buying the Sony DSC RX 100 III, but it just feels too small in my hands, unlike my older Canon s90 which feels great. Cost is not too critical, but superb image quality is. I've had bad luck luck with a Lumix in the past, so I'm definitely partial to Canon, Sony or Nikon. I already own an Sony a6000 which I love, I just want something smaller to carry around on my belt. What would you get?

I have a Nikon 1 S1 for a pocket camera! All the bells and whistles of a DSLR including Raw. My go to lens with this system is the Nikkor 10-100 VR. The camera is tiny and takes amazing pictures.

I have a friend who had a heart attack about 8 months ago and while in the hospital, had a stroke (something broke loose and caused the stroke). He had a large collection of cameras from antiques (brownies to some I've never seen before). One box camera nearly a hundred years old has a beautiful polished wood interior unlike the metal insides I usually equate with box cameras. There are Nikon film cameras like FM's and F3/F3HP. Five Mamiya bodies ranging from rough to very nice. He has one RB67 that is 9.5 out of 10 with two lenses that are equally as good. The prism finder he has for that is older but is still in good shape. I know the usual sells avenues like Craig's List and e-bay but I don't want to constantly have people over to the house to show off equipment nor do I want to pay a fee to e-bay. I know KEH is an option, but they pay so little. I asked for a quote for my Mamiya set about three years ago and they told me either 245.00, or 265.00. The system consisted of one 645, one 645M, lenses of 45,55,80,100 macro, 210, and 2X teleconverter. It also has several 120 and 220 inserts, waist and prism viewers, bellows shade, and filters on the lenses. I told them for that kind of money, I would fill the bodies with cement and use them for door stoppers! Anyway, I'm looking for interesting ways to market my friend's stash! Thanks for anything you come up with. (He also gave me a couple hundred rolls of film that was in the freezer. He said give it away with camera purchases, like a brick of 120 film with the RB67.

I have 138 film cameras. Most of them SLR's. All but a few with lenses attached that are in good condition. I had a friend that worked at a recycling organization and before they were destroyed he would salvage the one's in good working order for me. In this age of Digital none of them , with the exception of five or six very old antiques are worth any money at all. I keep them as a personal mini Photography Museum. Even the Public Schools in my area would not take them. Thought about a garage sale but for the money I could get for them I would rather have the Museum.

I have been enjoying the 'most beautiful camera' thread here and it got me thinking about my first camera. A total lemon. In the late 60's I had saved up my paper route money and bought a Praktica. The shutter never worked right, everything was overexposed and after a month the camera store gave me a full refund after seeing me in there week after week. One of the employees had taken a liking to me and he told me about a used Nikon F that had come back from Vietnam and was pretty banged up. The prism was broken and a local camera repair man had it in his shop fixing it up and put a beat up FTn head from another abused camera on it. Cosmetically, my F was UGLY! But it worked perfectly and came with a 50mm f/2 lens. I went from a beautiful, shiny new Praktica that never worked right to a travel worn, pieced together old workhorse. I consider that Nikon F as my first real camera, I only got a few properly exposed pictures with that Praktica.

Mine was a Kalimar SR200. A Russian camera with the light meter built into the body. Bought it somewhere in the late 50's. That camera served me well for over 10 years. A few years ago I bought an identical Kalimar from Ebay to have in my collection. When I got it the light meter still worked. It sits on my shelf along with the other cameras in my collection.

Recently I purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 from Adorama on a one day 24 hr special. Because of Adorama back ordering the Software Product and the 24 hr time limit on this product it caused some confusion with the rebate process. I did not have the necessary information to fill out the Online Rebate form. I got in touch with Helen and within a day and 1/2 Helen had the problem resolved. Never hesitate to talk with her about problems you are having with an Adorama Order. Who knows you just might make a friend in Helen. Thanks Helen and Thanks Adorama.

I was recently featured in the May issue of Canadian Image Maker magazine, published by Royal Photographic Society/Canada. here is the link:

This is pretty exciting for me. It is really quite surreal to see your work in this type of format. I am in two sections of the magazine(besides the cover). The first as a featured photographer, with my "reflection" series (all involving water), and then later in the magazine, my "European" series. I would be honored if you took a look!

Looking for imput for a everyday lens. I bought the Nikon D-7100 at Costco. It comes with a 18-55 and 55-300 lens. I really like the lenses but I think I could do better.
What does the club members think?
Thank you in advance.

What does anyone know about KEH? I am looking at a Nikon 70-200 II

Bought a couple of used lens from them. Both were like brand new. You can't go wrong with KEH.

So after a great deal of consideration with regards to buying my first DSLR, I have decided that for hiking, backpacking, travel and such, a nice, lightweight mirrorless camera might be the way to go after all. I'm looking at the Sony models, particularly the Sony a6000, but I am quite open to other suggestions. Would like to stay in the $500-$600 range, as much as possible, and go with interchangeable lenses and Wi-Fi. Any suggestions, oh fine and helpful citizens of the Ugly Hedgehog community? Still would like a nice DSLR some day , but it can wait.

Good choice, my Gibson J-50 was the first thing I bought with my first paycheck. My canon TL was my second purchase. I wore out the camera, but the J-50 just keeps getting better at almost 50 years old.

I recently purchased a C.F. Martin D45E Retro. It is beautiful. It was between the guitar and a Canon 5d Mark iii. I will still get a camera, but probably the Canon 6d, or see if Canon comes out with a 6d Mark ii..

I have a Gibson Hummingbird but have two Martin's as well. Congrats on your new Guitar.
