The biggest difference between the 610 and the 750 is size. The 610 is built on the same body as the 7000 and smaller cameras are built on. The 750 is built on the same body as the D300/500/800.

Some good answers here. My wife wanted a smaller camera. Got her the Sony a6000. She loves it. I shoot with the Nikon D500. Love it but sometimes for work taking pictures of our AV Integration installs I grab the a6000. Do light snd easy to use and not that expensive.

Are you going after wild life or walk around? For walk around I'd stick with what you have or.. trade it in or sell it for a good used or refurbished 28-300. But if you want a good wildlife lens keep what you have and when you can buy the 200-500mm lens or 80-400mm. I prefer to stick with Nikon lenses but many are happy with Sigma and Tamron. If you go with one of those then think about the 160-600mm. I'd rent lenses first. Take your time and make the best decision.

So, Nikon is having a sale until Friday on the D750 for $1,497. I think I can trade my D610 in for $700 +/- with 11,300 activations. Net cost would be $800+. The only reason to do that is the low light focus is very poor and frustrates me. D750 reviews and say the D750 low light performance is excellent. Most shooting in low light I find a work around using manual focus or using back button focus on a lighted part of the frame and recomposing. On the fence here and the sale is over Friday. Maybe wait and see what the next generation of D750 has to offer? The flippy screen, additional focus points and Ok button zoom are all nice to have over the D610 but to me the main upgrade would be low light focus. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Chris

Might not be a big enough jump up. Research a refurb D810. When you buy the best it only hurts once...

It's fun when I have my smaller camera (a6000). I like it when I can take a pop up.
Welcome to the best forum.

Mine is set up where I have programmed two buttons to push for BBF. One for AF-C and one for AF-S. I really like it. Steve's video explains these options.

I'm going with Gene 51 on this one. Once BBF is set it is controllabe to use or not use. I started using it for sports and fast moving kids for family shots. BBF is now a permanent setting on all of my cameras. doubt I will ever go back to shutter focus.

I'm going to watch his video again. I do like his media products. His book on wildlife photorgraphy is very good. Download it to you Kindle and you have a good read...

I did a video on BBAF and it's helped a lot of people understand exactly why they need it and what the advantages are (and how to set it up too). Check it out:

Steve, your video on BBF helped me a lot in setting up my D500. Also own both your books. Heading to S. Africa June 11 with my daughter on Safari. Looking forward to taking some great pictures. Hope I don't run into issues with airline security.

Interesting article. Many speculators buy Porsches only to sell them for a profit - not to drive them.

"I don’t like this business of people buying our cars to make money on them. That was never our intention." - from Porsche GT boss Andreas Preuninger

I thought that was a funny comment. Isn't that what Porsche does? It makes cars to make money.

I'd be happy to sell our 1999 986 for a small profit but that will never happen.

I have purchased numerous used and refurbished items from B&H. The only thing better than their products is their customer service!

I also have purchased refurbish Nikon cameras and lenses from BH as well as Adarama. No problems. Returned a D5300 after I decided to buy a different camera. All good.
