Nice set, Mike. I recently drove through that area, but didn't take time to stop. Sorry. I, too, notice benches, thanks to Karin!

My nephew has worked for Kodak all of his working life. He hired on with them straight out of college, and he's still there. He says they're alive and well.

I love the area, as you can see, Kathy. BTW, I was so sorry I could not identify the wildflowers in my last post that I tried in today's post. I am afraid that I did a miserable job.

That's OK. I always try to add to my knowledge of wildflowers. BTW, there's a website I use for getting flower and plant names. It's UBC Botanical. I post a picture and a question and usually have an answer in minutes.

Thank you all so much for all the wonderful compliments!! My spouse said I should find an art gallery that would hang them. I told him I don’t have a clue of even where to start.

Now for the questions of how I achieved this. I start with lots of patience going into this project as I am never sure what the outcome is going to be. This time, this shoot, was in my kitchen during the day with the dogs running around causing air disruption at times. My setup is simple. I use a set of lights placed at 9:00 of a vase which has the incense sticks taped too. I use a black backdrop about 6-12” away depending on air movement that I want. I’m careful to make sure the light does not hit the backdrop. I place the camera in front and focus on the top of the incense. Once I light the incense I focus on it and throw it into manual. I shoot in manual mode. However I do put in auto focus and see what I can get with that too. Iso I try and keep low 200 or lower, Aperture 3.5-8 and Shutter speed around 250. I don’t use a flash and sometimes use a flashlight at 3:00 at the same time. I play around with white balance and use different settings for different results. It all depends really on how the smoke is trailing. I have the exhaust fan on too for the smoke. I do use natural incense that make me feel better about that exposure that is. It’s not bad though as it rises and goes up and outside. If I’m doing a longer shoot I will move my pups up to another room but again the large area I am in, it hasn’t been an issue. I crop a little and don’t do much post processing as I’m super pleased mostly with the few that I choose out of the batch! I am going to play around more with them and experiment, LOL! Again thank you so much for all the love ❤️!
Thank you all so much for all the wonderful compli... (show quote)

Thanks for the detailed info. This is something I'd actually think of trying. I know some time back, someone posted some that had colour in the smoke. I wonder if using coloured lights would achieve that affect.

a beautiful place to walk and shoot, kathy...pretty little flower...nice place for neighborhood camping.

Thanks so much. It's actually a place I'd like to spend a long weekend. People were fishing a lot and the lake there is quite large.

Very nice. I've never done smoke deliberately. Could you explain the process (and how you get the smoke?)
