In my early years I shot with an SRT101 and then the first generation Rebel. My assumption is neither one of these was a sealed body system. I am looking to buy a dslr and note some are resistant to dust and moisture, others not. Will the body not resistant to dust and moisture be similar to the old film cameras of the 1970-1990s? Is this something to be concerned with for a non-pro, enthusiast shooter who can choose when the camera is exposed to elements?
Camera manufacturers do not sell 'weather sealed' products. They are advertised as 'weather resistant'. If you send your camera in for repair, and they find moisture inside, it is highly unlikely the repair will be done under warranty. They will say, 'sorry, you got the camera wet'.
