Great job...all beauties, well really good photos anyway. The faces only mothers could love.
Ok, gotcha, that clears things up. I miss him too. I think I know some of his techniques and thought about posting something in his honor. Maybe someday in the future I'll do something. I know he got a lot of his material at the flowers section at grocery stores. We have a Kroger here that would be perfect. I just need to get their permission to take photos in the store.
Hi died last September per your own post Carol...

Fantastic work!! But, help me, how are these animals constructed and are they life-sized? Please give more details about the subjects. Sorry, I must have missed the first set. I will certainly go back to check them out.
Hi Dave, yes they are life size or bigger in some cases. They are constructed with a wire skeleton, covered with air tight weatherproof fabric, some of the large ones have blowers that keep them inflated. Thanks for stopping by.
The continuation of Part 1...(see part 1 for more descriptive information.)

Hi Folks, recently went to see some Chinese Lantern Displays here at the Nashville Zoo. It's a nighttime event and you'll see why. These displays are scattered throughout the zoo and I was blown away by each one I encountered. The tough part was getting clean shots (without people). There must have been 200+ people roaming the grounds the night I visited. With patience, I somehow managed a few good shots. These are amazing lanterns, and some as big as a house. The displays were mingled in with the existing zoo trees and vegetation, but a few of the larger ones were in open fields. The talent it takes to build them is simply amazing. Someone had to built the skeleton wire frames, then cut the fabric patterns and sow it all together. That along with installing all the internal lights. Perhaps most amazing part is the attention to detail with coloring and painting. The eyes on some of these lanterns almost brings them to life. With Winter, I haven't ventured out much, so haven't posted much. So, I hope you enjoy these images. I'll be posting two threads (Part 1 & Part 2).
All shot with a Sony RX10M4, jpegs processed with Photoshop Elements 10 with XXL and Topaz Adjust and Denoise. All images shot in 16:9 widescreen

Just about as pretty as it gets.
That's a fine looking fella. Great job!
Such sad news. Earl was a very kind man. It showed on his many posts. He always had good things to say. A good photographer, drone pilot and musician. I had the privilege of communicating with him by email on occasion. He would send me song tracks he had been working on. One was a Pasty Cline song "Walking after Midnight" featuring his daughter singing and his son on guitar with Earl playing keyboards. I listened to it today in his honor with eyes full of tears. I'll miss you my friend. Go rest high on that mountain, your work here is over.
Nice job, thanks for showing us. I've been to the Tampa Bay area a few times. It's so full of wonderful places and things to see.
