Folks, my grand father incident is just an illustration.

The thread is about YOUR legacy.

My hope is that my legacy is to be remembered like Abraham "And he believed in the LORD; and He counted it to him for righteousness." Gen 15:6

You got a decent shot of your granddaughter between the circles, and one shot from a roll of film use to be the mark of success.

Get to the ball game earlier and get in the first row - that will help. IF the school will allow it, stand down at the end of the floor and shoot flash. I think I would take the flicker off as well. As high as you were in the stands, you could not control the amount of camera shake you were applying - from other people in the stands. If you are on the floor, standing, you can lock your elbows to your ribs and support that camera with a tripod stance - even leaning back against the wall at time.

Most area newspapers that cover wide distribution areas are looking for pictures of high school sports - talk to the paper and get a press card - then request press privileges under the basket from the school AD

I would be inclined to take the 10-18, 16-135, and 150-600. I think you will miss the 10-16 range more than the 100 Macro, and there is not much between the 135 and 150 that you would miss.

My Sis-in-L and Bro-in-L had problems with the monkeys stealing shiny objects when they went to CR - keep your bag close and closed!

I bought my last 5 cameras (Canon T90 through Canon T6i) at Norman's Camera in Kalamazoo, MI. The have been national providers since the days when you had to look in shutterbug to find them - or the last few pages of Pop or Mod Photography. They have matched B&H, 47th Street, Abe's of Maine and others. In the pre-internet days, I had to phone in my order because they had mail-order prices if you were more than 35 miles (I was about 37miles) and then I would drive in and pickup the gear.

There are two clues in the photograph: The size and sizing of the surf is the first clue, and then the shadow on the left sets the perspective to where the camera is 5-6 feet above the rocks, and everything can be calculated from the shadow.

For a hundred years, Kodak has taught us to include something in the foreground to establish perspective.

I would think he would use his new drone so he could get out front and shoot the classic Sleigh pose even though he will only have a quarter moon, and that not until after midnight.

Back in the day - when I didn't just believe in him, but actually thought he was real, I would have used the Minox spy camera I asked for every Christmas. Santa must still have a bunch of them, cause he never left one at my house!

I want to take some online photography classes but am unsure as to which one to take. I don't want a lesson on photoshop (don't have/want that program) but rather just plain old fashioned photography in the digital age.

I like the Tony Northrup series on You Tube.

The first camera menu - flash control - if you have a Canon flash or a Yonguno equivalent, you can obtain full control of the off camera flash thru the menu.

Note that B&H has several YouTube Videos on flash photography with the 580 and or 600 Flash units.

The old, old lens wouldn't auto-focus.

For the record, I have used a couple AF lenses from the Film EOS days on my T6i; they worked as designed.

I would take that lens and perform a float test on it to see if it worth keeping. Note that a float test must be conducted in deep water and the lens must not be constrained during the test.

Many years ago, riding the L in Chicago after a Cubs game, and there were three partners playing the shell game with riders. I found myself photographing expressions when one of my co-riders asked if I realized my Jeopardy - taking pictures of "them guys"

If you regularly use your DSLR for video, perhaps a shoulder mount is what you need. you can find mounts from less than $50 to more than $400 to support and quiet your video. A consumer video product will greatly reduce your photographic capabilities compared to a DSLR and a Professional or Prosumer Video will cost about as much as your DSLR and you will still need the shoulder mount.

Or work from a Tripod or monopod

I'm going to be in souther Utah this spring and we will be spending some time in Zion.

Does anyone know good locations for photography? Especially astrophotography, skyscapes, and light painting. I just got a Rokinon 14mm f2.8 and I'm eager to give it a go.

Thanks all.

the ULTIMATE tool for planning a photography trip to Zion National Park. It's called Really Good Photo Spots. It's a free iPhone and iPad app with THOUSANDS of the best photo locations in the world all in one app. Nearly every country in the world has many spots, and southern Utah is absolutely COVERED in spots on the app. It's really convenient for travel photography because you can just tap “Spots near me” and BOOM! It lists all the best spots to take pictures near you.

If you keep it in your bag, then your bag, hanging on your tripod, will stabilize your still photos much better.

A long lens is great for sunsets with a lighthouse or other object in the near background. a sunset behind a lighthouse with a 600 will yield a sun three times as large when compared to the light house. Because you move three times as far from the light house, and your distance to the sun doesn't change.
