If you really want to see the Aurora Borealis, go to Alaska. 5 years ago I went on a Bald Eagle Photography trip to Haines, Alaska. A fellow Photographer told me about the Aurora Borealis the night before. So I got my camera and tripod ready for the night at the Harbor in Haines. 4 month later (middle of March) I went to a place 20 miles north of Fairbanks for a week. Every night we could see the Northern lights.

This time they gave me much more time to get them in focus.

What would you say to a Photographer you hired for your daughters wedding, showing only up with a smart phone taking the photos?

I haven't visited the Chicago Botanic Garden in the past 6 weeks, and was surprised this morning to see the Hummingbirds.

Your sd card is probably too small for the size photo you are trying to shoot? Battery level on my GX-9 is shown by bars, not by number of shots remaining.

Naptown Gaijin,. You are correct, Shots remaining info has nothing to do with battery level. OP should make sure that he or she is using a SDHC card (4GB-32GB).

I was surprised that my guess of DKW’s was correct for the 1st 2 cars. I recognized the Isetta. Is the red car (#3) a Messerschmidt. That bubble canopy looks airplane-like, fueling my speculation. Thanks for showing us these “interpretations” of automobiles made in Germany during the fifties. Their ideas were fascinating concepts and show the ingenuity of people with needs for transportation, but little money for or availability of gasoline. Beating taxes was a great idea then and continues today.
I was surprised that my guess of DKW’s was correct... (show quote)

The red car is a Peel Trident made in England. Car #1 and #2 are Messerschmidt's. Car #4 is a BMW Isetta.

Let me know if I'm wrong with the ID. They are very hard to follow, but once they hear the shutter (or mirror) of the camera, they seem to freeze for a short time.

Great shot. I had the male in my backyard, but only for a short moment. I have to find out what food they like.

I'm not a bird fella, but those are super shots. Indulge my ignorance, what is he?

This is a male "Summer Tanager". They are more common in the southern States. I never saw one myself, until this one showed up in my back yard.

He didn't show up yesterday, and I thought he realized that he is way out of his range. (North of Chicago)
When I got home this afternoon he was sitting on our fence.

I don't like to take photos of birds on a feeder, but this Summer Tanager is an exception. Chicago seems to be out of their migration range, and I'm still 20 miles north of the city. Hopefully he will be here awhile.

I shop at thrift stores for framed art. Frequently it has mats. I take the art out, touch up the frame and rarely pay more than $10. The hard part can be finding the perfect frame for a particular photo. But I have found that sometimes it is a surprise how photos and frames will go together. I keep a supply in my garage, especially simple/plain frames.

I do exactly the same. Our thrift store has an unlimited supply of unwanted art work. I also have 10-15 frames waiting for my images.
