The adult Eagle dropped this fish in mid-air and I watched 2 young Eagles go after it and one of them caught it.
I don't know much about their behavior as we don't get many around here. Is that some sort of teaching thing for the young ones?
It was unbelievable to watch......I didn't get a pic of that!

Good morning everyone.
I bought a Canon 70D about a year and half ago and realized how much I love bird and wildlife photography.
I want to upgrade to the 7D Markii and was wondering if there is anywhere that takes cameras in on trade? If not, what would a fair price be for the used 70D? Not sure of the shutter count, probably about 5000ish, great camera, I just want to upgrade.
Thank you

Bob

It's tough (for me anyway) to get close to the few Bald Eagles we have here in SE South Dakota.
Nice sunny 45 degree day with no wind. I wasn't in the best spot with the sun but I couldn't move.
Played with some settings on my new Tamron 1500-600 G2. There is a learning curve but what a fun way to learn :)

Dakota Barb,

We have the "Jan thaw" going on right now....40-45 degrees!
As you know, that's almost t-shirt and shorts weather here after a few weeks of below zero :)
I'm going to post a few pics of a Bald Eagle I took yesterday near Brandon.
Enjoy your stay in Florida.

SueMac, we're from Sioux Falls. Normally we'd be in Florida this time of year but we're planning an Alaska trip this summer. Saving up the $$$$ for that trip :)

Finally a break from the below zero temps and I was able to get out with my new Tamron 150-600mm G2.
I'm still figuring it out as it's my first long zoom lens, but so far I really like it.
I'm open for any critique.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful replies.
My wife and I have learned a lot about where to go and what
to bring from reading your responses.

I'm so glad I found this forum, great info and friendly.
I'm a 55 year old retired detective, & have always loved the outdoors,
taken up wildlife photography in the last couple years.
I use a Canon 70D, 400mm prime and just got a Tamron 150-600mm G2
My wife and I are planning an Alaska trip this summer, we've never been there
before and couldn't be more excited or confused.
We plan to fly into Anchorage, rent a car and head south. I'm looking for advice on
places to stay, see, and avoid. We plan on being there for about 10 days and for me
it's going to be a wildlife photography vacation.
Thank you and Happy New Year

Bob
