To reiterate..... Both the Sony RX-10 series, and the RX100 series have viewfinders and a "1"" sensor, and Zeiss lenses. The difference is that the RX-10 series is a large camera and the RX100 series is a pocket sized camera. If you want the highest optical product, the RX-10 with larger glass will probably be best for you. If you want portability, the RX100 series with the pop-up viewfinder is a fantastic product. I have owned both.

And if these are not in your budget, the Panasonic comparable models, Lumix DC-ZS200D and Lumix DMC-FZ2500 may be for you. Both have 1" sensors and non-interchangeable, wide range zoom lenses.

Welcome to the forum. I use Canon gear so I can't help here.

Of what value is the SOC JPEG though?
Do you bother PP JPEG or only raw?
Then to save that raw you then have a 3rd folder of JPEG.
So again why even bother with a SOC JPEG taking up space?

The value of SOC JPEG is to see if you got what you intended, framed right, no lampposts sticking out of heads, etc. and to have something to process.
I process JPGs, I have yet to see a RAW that I got more out of than JPG processed.*
I don't shoot RAW at all, and use my 2nd card as where the overflow will go since I only re-format when full.
So why have RAW take up much more space than JPG if it doesn't give me anything useful?

*I have posted RAW files that UHH members were also unable to get more detail out of than I got processing JPG.

I got my R7 to obtain 2 main advantages, the improved focusing (eye focus) and the IBIS to minimize camera movement, both for better sharpness. I have not been disappointed.

Then there are additional benefits like seeing the exposure level while viewing either in the viewfinder or the back panel.

Z8 is 19.4 MP in crop mode VS most APSC are 24 MP so you take a real hit in detail. Some crop have 40 and 32 MP nearly double and over double to the Z8 in crop mode.
Perhaps shoot FF and if cropping is needed do it sparingly.

Beat me to my point. Crop mode eliminates the contribution of more than half the pixels! That hurts detail.

I believe you are referring to the DMC-ZS70. The DC-ZS80 is similar. You can read all about them here:

I, too, have an R7, but I also kept my 80D. Do you still use a DSLR that takes EF or EF-S lenses? If so, a consideration, to be sure. I have not replaced any of my old lenses.

I don't remove it then, either. I just transfer all after each shooting session. If full, I reformat in camera.

On second thought, I put in a backup, then do as above returning it to camera after session.

Now I have a camera with dual cards but haven't filled one yet.

I haven't tried my G2 on my R7. It is still on my 80D.

I have the 7DII and bought an R7 with the RD18-150 lens and EF-RF adaptor. I did not sell my 7DII or my L lenses. Instead I am keeping my 7DII body as a backup

Ditto for me except an 80D instead of the 7DII. I got the adapter with control ring.
