On a recent cruise, I tried my hand at shooting live performances. Shooting through a lot of haze proved to be challenging but also added a lot to the effects. Always experimenting, always learning, always fun.

One of my favorite birds of prey. He let me get very close before he took off. Amazing talons. Another lesson in having my camera close by.

Best guess is 8.5-9ft. And they're faster than you think.

Nice set! How big would you estimate it is? That thing looks rather large from where I'm sitting. Gary

No, I did not take these shots with an iPhone. 200-500mm kept my distance. Advice to golfers in Florida, when looking for your ball along the edge of lake, don't always look straight down. Not paying attention, one golfer got within 3 feet of this big boy.

You won’t regret it.

Definitely not cold. This was just before 10 in the morning. I waited to get as few people in the shot as I could. We were only there until early afternoon. Would love to go back and spend a few days. Quite a spot. Thanks for check them out.

Sigh...makes me want to go. Nice shots! One question about the second one: rows and rows of umbrellas and chairs, but no one there. Was it cold or early? Just curious.

Yup! We were smart enough to take a tour bus down to the town and a ferry boat out. As beautiful as this area is, I'm not sure I could walk up and down those streets everyday. But a great visit anyway.

Thanks for checking them out. When I went to upload to UHH the files were too big so I had to reduce 50%. Glad they still look OK!

Thanks. While I took just a few lenses on this trip, the one I used the most, and used in this series, was the Nikon 28-300 3.5-5.6. It's a really nice all purpose lens, especially for travel. I had two camera bodies with me, the D-500 and D850. These were shot with the D850. Hope that helps!

Thanks. My wife particularly likes #4 as our shadow looks like a heart. :) Hopeless romantic.

Excellent. The capture of the burner flame in #1 is very nice. I liked the shadow of the balloon on the trees, too.
