Me too. I like large lawns just so I can mow them. Always look good after freshly mowed.

Who mows all that lawn?

I don't know but I myself would love to mow it with my little Massey Ferguson GC2600 with a 5' belly mower. I love mowing, and the smell of fresh cut grass.

Found this barn about 10 miles from where I live. Patriotic and well manicured lawn.

I like it countryman60951. Thanks for sharing, Richard

Thanks Richard, Most barns in my area are smaller and less unique as to what you share with us. You have started me to take a closer look at some of the barns in this area. I ALWAYS enjoy seeing your post of barns and antique farm equipment.

This corn crib I found in Will County in North-eastern Illinois. I am not sure when this style of crib became popular because the majority of them was strictly built mostly of wood. For those of you not familiar about these building you stored ear corn on the fall in the sides of these and through the winter the corn would dry out and you would bring in a corn sheller and a crew in late spring early summer and empty it out. When I was younger the 1st thing I was taught is to take twine or string and tie the bottom of your pant legs tight so mice could not climb up your leg when you were shelling. These building most generally had over head bins in the center that held soybeans, oats or wheat too. A part of farming era that is mostly nonexistent today

Did not notice at 1st when I took this picture but there is an older tractor in the center bay and it appears to be in pieces. I took this using a FE 1.8 / 55mm prime lens. One more reason to purchase the new SONY 70-200 G lens. I guess it is time for me to really consider parting with my Canon 7D to help finance that new lens.

So, I still have not upgraded to a FF camera body... :( (Move is delaying large purchases!)

However, in my delay, Sony has come out with the a7/a7R...has anyone had experience with this mirror-less system? I have alpha bodies now, so am concerned also that a lens adapter may affect quality of photo?

The a7 also seems very small/light...I mainly do newborn and wedding photography, with a bit of everything else thrown in...anyone with experience with the a7 think the smallness/light weightedness of this camera will be a setback?

Thank you!!

I have purchased the a7R with 55mm prime lens, for mostly landscape work. SO far I like it. My biggest complaint is the lack of zoom lenses. I plan on next year of purchasing the 70 to 200 "G" lens. and should cover most of my applications. I am not partial to brands since I have had a Nikon and currently own 2 Canons. They all serve certain purposes for me. The Sony a7R is my first full frame camera and at least with the current lens I have with it allows me to crop heavily if I need to. As with any camera brand there are pluses and minuses in all of them. With the Sony it is lack of lens choices but I purchased it on the fact they were going to add more lens to the line up. For IQ it is great, ruggedly built and lighter than a DSLR. Would I part with my Canon 7D, no. Good camera and serves it purpose well.

I am new here and just becoming aware of the wealth of info.

If you have the time and investigate all avenues of what you are going to shoot, then maybe you can narrow your choices down. There are a lot of good equipment out there; Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Panasonic, among others. I have 3 different cameras to cover most of what I shoot. My newest is a Sony a7R, a full frame mirror less, but have so much to learn about this camera but really am intrigued so far as to what it is capable of doing. Biggest downside of it is lens choices. My Canon 7D is old reliable. My Canon SX50HS is used when I need the long zoom and don't feel like carrying the 7D all day. I have been contemplating getting an adapter for A mount lens and purchase a long zoom lens for the Sony. Then may, just maybe I might consider parting with my Canons. Until then they stay part of my line up because I want more info before I make that move and is one of the reasons I am on this site. In the past I have had Nikon and have no problem with it neither. However any time a conversation gets started on Canon / Nikon, It sounds like a bunch sales staff for their brands come out. Some of these people on here are right though ; what feels good in your hands, fits your budget, is correct, you can't go wrong with either and that includes the other top brands too, which surprisingly enough does include others such as Sony and others.. As you get into this you won't want to scrimp on your glass though... I wish you all the very best in your choice.

Just got some bad news from Canon: my SX50 is not repairable. LCD stopped working; might be "imaging center" issue, but not something they would attempt to fix as would cost more than camera is worth.

And since it died 8 weeks after warranty expired, they will not honor.

They will sell me a refurbished SX50 for $300 - and that was only after I asked what is best they could do when I called them after receiving an email "offer" of $368. I said no thanks.

I told them I have owned 2 Canon DSLR's and have touted the SX50 on ugly hedgehog for a year, and probably 30 people have bought them because of me. Unfortunately, that didn't matter :-(

I admit I told friends a few months ago that even if my SX50 "died today," I'd feel I had gotten my money's worth because of the awesome opportunities and experiences I've had with it.

Bee7474 suggested purchasing a year's added warranty with next bridge camera. Since I shot 58,000 photos in just under 14 months, I'm thinking that wouldn't be a bad idea.

SO sorry to hear about the loss of your SX50. I too have one but it has not been used very much since I purchased it new. Counter says 570 shots taken. I would consider parting with it since I also have a Canon 7D which was my main camera until I purchased a new Sony a7R. I think that is going to be my main camera now. Considering buying the adapter for A mount and get a Sony G lens telephoto zoom for it.This sony is my 1st full frame camera and I am impressed with it so far. I can post some pictures that I can take with the SX50 so you know that it functions like new and I believe I still have the box it came in. In fact I keep all the boxes my camera gear comes in.
I will post my email address in my profile if interested. I am thinking of maybe $225 and you pay the shipping
