Great pics, I have planned to go there myself next Tuesday, weather permitting.
What lens advice do you have, I intended to take 70-200mm with 135mm prime (full frame), plus 400 mm f/5.6?

What a great old castle. Most of the castles I visited in Germany were mostly ruins. Nice to see one that still maintains its former glory.

Hi, The Castle was built on the site of a 13th Century fortification, but is classified as a 9th-century Gothic Revival. Quite impressive however.

Loving your images, rjallen. Is the B&W (which I love, btw) infra red? the trees look ethereal. I love the bluebell field and the friendly horses is nice. And on a side note, how do you pronounce "Swdg Ddwili Uchaf". I tried to learn a little of the language before I traveled to Wales but did not learn well. It is very kind of Welshmen to speak both English and Welsh for inept people like me.
Hi, thanks for the comments, my bad it's Sgwd (typo) which is pronounced skood, or near enough :). The B+W pic was just converted from colour but I agree it does look quite ethereal. Nice to actually get a sunny day down here!

Great treatment of the waterfalls - just the right amount of softness!
Agree, sometimes using a filter can over do it. I appreciate the critique.

It is swan season. Here are my questions.

Is it better to shoot swans with my 6D and my 100mm F2.8L and then have to crop the shots that are far away?

Or

Is it better to shoot the swans with my Rebel XTI and my 100mm F2.8L to get more reach out of my 100mm lens?

I agree Swans are majestic birds...

Hi, I agree, the 70-200mm L is a superb lens and I rarely take it off my 5D MK2. I have the IS f/4 but believe the image quality is equally good on the non IS. additionally using FF allows better crops.

The low-light performance is definitely more important to me than the frame rate. The AF system is pretty much like what I'm used to (save for working better in low light), so the fancier AF system of the 5DIII wasn't really an issue.

The main reason I bought the camera was for concert photography-- to get pictures of musicians in dodgy light without blur or excessive 'noise', so they can use them for publicity, etc. I'll use it for travel photography, too, 'cause I like dodgy light, in general.

Thanks for your thoughts, my 5D MK2 was an excellent camera in its own right, by all accounts the 6D and more expensive 5D MK3 have even better low light performance. I do take some sports photo's when I am in the UK, but price differential between 6D and 5D MK3 is the issue and begs the question, is the 5D MK3 worth the extra cost....
