I would not buy it if it was a grey market. Nikon will not service grey. In the event you want to sell it, nobody may want to buy it.

About 6 weeks ago I bought a grey market lens from 42nd Street Photo. Last week I dropped and now it will no longer focus (auto or manual).

So, I went to Nikon's website, put in a repair request, got a shipping packet from Nikon, shipped it to them, and yesterday got an email with an estimate to repair and if I wanted for them to proceed with the repair I need to click a link in the email to authorize the repair at the quoted price. I then rec'd a repair approval from Nikon and I'm now just waiting to get my lens back.

I wouldn't say Nikon doesn't repair grey market lenses because they are currently repairing mine.

What is the best time of year to go to these places. Good time would probably be defined as most likely to have sunshine without it being too hot. I'm guessing Sept/Oct but having never been there I'm not sure.

Not nice to hide an announcement like that in FAQ. It should be prominently displayed like the original "ending on 3/31/14" messages were.

The only way that I knew it was there was when I called them they told me it was in the FAQ - in their defense that is why they have an FAQ but I do agree that it should be consistently displayed.

Ditto. But hurry... the special was supposed to be over on 3-31 but it's still there.

If you look in the "FAQ" you'll see the sign up period has been extended to 5/31/2014.

http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/faq.html

There is a question there that asks, "What is the Adobe Photoshop Photography Program offer?" - you'll find the new date there.

It's still available, through May 31, 2014, with no requirements for previous ownership.

See fare right side at http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop.html

See the terms at http://www.adobe.com/store/en_us/popup/offer/ccm_photoshop_app_offer.html

Don't confuse the creative cloud itself with the photoshop plan.

I've never owned PS before but 3 days ago I signed up for the $9.99 plan - but that was after I called Adobe. I asked what the price would be at the end of 12 months and I was told it would remain $9.99.

I know - that person could tell me anything about what was going to happen in 12 months but should I assume they are lying and that they just say stuff to get you to sign up? That is a cynical way to go through life .... and also accurate sometimes. So, I took a chance that in a year it will be $9.99 still - if they make it $29.99, I'll cancel it. I mean - what is the risk? Nobody is putting a gun to my head to sign up, not sign up, keep it, don't keep it - if I don't like the deal in future I'll cancel - if I do like the deal I'll keep it.

Great advice! Sometimes we purchase 'more' of something not based on need, but based on desire for features ... that we never use.

True enough - Microsoft Office is another example...

I had two F-4's, an F5 and bought an F90s exactly 31 days before the F100 was announced; that was ONE DAY after I could have returned the F-90. Time is designed to disappoint photographers and car buyers!

I fully agree about doing ones own research but it often causes a problem. Depending on the question there are so many opinions posted that a "newbie" can really get quite confused!

Often, I think they have a better chance in getting the answer they are looking for by asking.

I've never understood the 'irritation' that some have because someone asks a question that was asked before. I've seen this on a couple of truck forums and on a lawnmower forum (I know, I need to get a life ... ). I've tried to search for things before and sometimes it's easy and sometimes it doesn't seem to matter what you type in the search engine you do not get what you're looking for.

Another part of this that makes me wonder is why do some people get upset? If you think it is a waste of your time to answer the question then how big of a waste of time is it to take the time to complain about it .... I mean, how valuable is your time if your bitchin' about camera questions on an internet forum? If you think it is a dumb question, move on or .... I guess you can spend your time complaining about having to take you're time to complain about the question you're answering .... ???

That was a long way around the barn to say that I agree with you, oldtool2!

I'm replying to my own post so that I can try to guess your next comment:

The FBI/CIA/NSA/Girl Scouts all have him sequestered away in a secret location where pencils are prohibited. Oh, and they have tied his hands behind his back.

.... and poked out his eyes.

.... and poured concrete in his ears

.... and have used their Ronco Mind Control Extra ($19.97 - as seen on TV) device on him

.... what am I missing ....??? (Im sure you'll tell me .....)

Isn't it strange that all those bullets couldn't kill him but they could cut his vocal cords so he couldn't talk to the press. The police couldn't kill him in front of all those witnesses, but they could silence him.

Did they also cut off his hands so he couldn't write down all of what you and he "know"?

Good grief .......

Yep, people like ole Ted keep the truthers stirred up - it feeds their BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome).

Those on the right have Clinton Derangement Syndrome and the left felt left out (no pun intended) so, they were thrilled when Bush came along so that they could be crazy, too!

If ole Ted here wants to be a real American and believes in truth, justice, and the American way - he'll name names - otherwise he is a senile old coot with an axe to grind. Or his has an ideology that he is promoting - there are some people that believe "by any means necessary" is ok if it moves their agenda - some people have no morals, ethics, or integrity - ????Ted????.

So, Ted .... you've made an outrageous claim, now prove it .... or shut up and go eat your oatmeal.

I'd never heard of this guy so I went to his website ..... good grief! The command he has of his camera is incredible but his imagination for composition is ridiculous - in my lifetime I hope to make one picture like his. He sees things I can't even imagine - thanks for mentioning him, I'll return to that website often for inspiration. What a gift he has .....
