I lack the skillset to create realistic and fine art so I find abstract and impression art to be more fitting. With abstract art, I can cover mistakes and make them appear to have been done on purpose. Most importantly for my style, I can leave much to the imagination so fit and form can be more interpretive than deliberate.

I've used a graphic tablet to create pieces of work and to edit images. The graphic tablet with the display has been a game changer for me as I can draw and paint directly on what I am looking at and see it on the computer monitor at the same time.

There is an abundance of digital brushes available to fit any emulation of media, shape, opacity, textures, and on and on to meet one's desire. I used a combination of them in this piece. The choice of colors also appears to be endless which makes picking complimentary and contrasting colors easy for they appear on the color wheel.

Each day brings new experiences and the practice helps build muscle memory and hand and eye coordination. Although these works are not photo manipulation, I do enjoy making and sharing them with those that may have an interest in viewing them.

This is my first attempt at creating digital oil paint-style artwork using a graphic display tablet and stylus to draw and paint. I started by drawing a sketch of a poppy (shown below) which is a simple flower to draw compared to other flowers.

The primary brush used for this piece was a thick oil paint brush (digital, of course), and a fine line brush for the embellishments. I used splashes of complimentary colors to create the background and used an opacity brush in a multiply mode to create the soft pink blush around the poppy.

The photo is quite unreal and exciting, yet real enough that we can relate reality to the image.

We men are used to the disorder in our garages, but there is order in our disorder... "Where is the adjustable wrench?" Of course, where we last used it.
