My uncle, Bernie Mason, led Task Force Mason. This was what is now know as "The Ghost Army. There is a recurring airing of the documentary on PBS and a recently released book "The Ghost Army". Well worth seeing. Until the documentary was released my uncle was still forbidden to speak of it or his involvement. He just celebrated his 95th birthday and I wish I was as sharp as he is. he is still reluctant to claim any credit.

I've read the book, haven't seen the movie yet. Very interesting.

From what I've been told, Parke County IN is the mother lode of covered bridges.

Yes it is. They have a big festival every year that's very well attended. (Very crowded, you can't stir them with a stick)

Did you visit other bridges in the area? They are some thing that I like to visit often. A reminder of the past and workmen ship of craftsman ship we do not see today. I live east of Indy now and we have small one to to far away that vandals tried to arson a few years ago. The have restored it and I recently took some pictures showing the scared timbers inside of the structure. I did not have my Flash with me and I should have to capture more detail. It is not far from Arlington In.

That would be the Offutt Ford Bridge. Have you had a chance to see the restored Moscow Bridge?

I've used Nikon's a lot longer than I care to admit. Only other cameras I've had in 35mm were one Minolta (totally manual) and a Voighlander. Never owned a Canon. I doubt getting a Canon would make me a better photographer and if I'd never used a Nikon, I doubt getting one would make me a better photographer. I believe that I could go out and buy any DSLR and no one would ever be able to tell which camera I took the photo's with. This is nothing more that the Ford/Chevy debate. Looking for the brand of camera to make better photo's with is just not that good an idea. Buy the camera that feels good in your hands or, one you already have lenses for or, that you can afford. If you simply like the sound of one name over the other, get it! A camera in the end is simply a tool, it'll only do what you can do with it, no more!

I think you pretty much nailed it. I use Nikon, I have a cousin that does it for a living (studio) he uses Canon. When I started upgrading I went with Nikon. Why? It fit my hands, took good pictures and was on sale!

It's one of those things that's "to each his/her own" PP for me is tweaking and I use the program (Nikon) that came with the camera.

My best days at my part-time job are the ones I forget to take my phone with me. If it's real important they can hunt me down or wait until lunch. Didn't get one until I was 53 (job requirement) now 10 years later....it's still a pain.

I boiled my rules down to 7

1. Be quiet. Never take somebody with you who can't shut up.

2. Be aware of your surroundings. Don't be looking up and step in a hole. Don't be looking down and hit your head on a limb.

3. Put cell phones on quiet.

4. Leave the pets at home.

5. Keep the camera ready to shoot.

6. Have food and drink with you.

7. Don't get upset if you miss a shot. Your chance will come again.
