Again this is new in a box from my work, but I will check the serial number tomorrow. Do you call Canon or is there a place online I can check. The other lenses I have are great for the head shot and work for realtors. I also have a 4K drone I use for aerial shots.

This is an excellent all around lens and one of the most popular as a general "walk-around" lens. As an L series, the quality is excellent and it is quite sharp. I have this lens, and on a FF body, it's extremely versatile - from wide to short tele, and the IS is very effective. probably on my camera as much as all my other lenses combined. Here are the downsides: first, on a crop body, the widest setting is not especially wide (but you have that covered with the Sigma). Second, there is a known ribbon cable issue as the lens ages on some copies, and the repair is $200-300. Third, even though the cost is coming down because the MKII version is now available, the price you're quoting for a new, not used, copy is too low, which tends to indicate it's a grey market lens. That may or may not matter to you, but it essentially means that Canon USA will not honor the warranty. You may be able to get warranty work if you mail it to its country of origin. If you want to be sure, ask for the S/N prior to purchase and check it with Canon support. In short, great lens, especially since you have wider focal lengths covered, but the price is suspiciously low since used copies of this lens are selling for $500-600.

Thank you for your input

Agree, in part. The lens marking shows IS.

With this focal length, you can do general photography, which probably accounts for 95 percent of all photography.

This is a lens from my work, I just have a great boss. It is brand new in a box.

I have that lens. The price you mentioned means it is most likely GREY MARKET. Google Grey Market to better understand the value.

If budget is a restraint look to Refurbished from Canon Direct or the ABC.

https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/ef-24-105mm-f-4l-is-usm-refurbished

Current price 799 USD but on promotions as low as 5-6 Hundred.

On a APS-C lens I prefer a wider zoom, but that is just me. While I have the 24-105 for my 6D, I have a 15-85 and 18-135 EFs.

Is it a grey market lens? If so, you should read up on the pros and cons of such a purchase.
I don't quite understand what a great market purchase is.

I have a Canon 80D, Sigma 70-200 2.8, Sigma 17-10 2.8, and a Canon 50mm 1.8. I have wanted to buy a nice in-between lens and a 24-105mm presented itself to me at a price tag of $460.00 brand new. I shoot small weddings and events and wanted a good L lens to use for such opportunities. What do you thing about that lens and what would be any downfalls if any with this lens? I don't think I could pass up that price.

Thank you all for your responses. My 70D is a great camera and has treated me well, I just feel the need for a new camera. I have a 17-70mm 2.8 sigma, 70-200mm 2.8 sigma, 50mm 1.8. Canon. The weddings I do are small with my clients on a budget. The lenses I have do well in low light and the pictures come out great. I am selling my 70D with all original accessories and a new canon bag for $650.00, so if anyone know a person in need of a great camera let me know.

I have a 70D and looking to upgrade. I want to stick around $1,500 for body only. I shoot parties, small weddings, head shots, family etc. Any suggestions on a crop or full frame. Thanks in advance.

This was shot with my 200mm 2.8 lens and I had to stand across the room to get the shots.i used 2 light sources because it it for a magazine, not for their wall.

You have the right idea, top trainer. But, you're using a short lens in the making, you have to correct this. The photos show more of the body and a smaller head.
Your eye goes to the body first then the head. The're not balanced. This happens when you move in close with a short lens.

On your next shoot try using a longer lens. Make more photos with a 100mm, 150mm, evan a 200mm. Stand back further and do focus on the eyes. Shoot wide open or go to f5.6 no more! Use one frontal soft-box not two. Study striking portraits by KARSH. Theirs no end to the creative mind! AP

These are corporate shots to be places in a magazine and website. They will crop accordingly. Thank you for your comment.

This is just my opinion, but there is too much suit in each picture. I would call these portraits rather than "head shots." I would crop just below the lapel notch. Also, men's faces show more character if there is some shadowing. Maybe 50% less light on one side. Just suggestions. Good luck.
