I sold my Canon camera system and I have been thinking about replacing the canons with the topic title camera and lens. Does anyone have this camera and will comment about it? I never owned an Olympus, is quality, performance, and reliability on par with Nikon and Canon?
Thanks in advance for any opinions and comments provided.
I own a different body but do have that lens. It’s wonderful and of the highest quality. I’ve had other Oly bodies and all have been great. I’d bet you’d like the in body image stabilization. I would not feel any trepidation about purchasing one from them. They’ve been making optics for over a hundred years. I am primarily a Nikon user and use Oly for travel. Good luck.
I have a different Olympus. It amazes me every time I use it.
Buy it. Take advantage of the B&H guaranteed return policy. Wear it out for a couple weeks and post what you think. If it is "JUNK" B&H will give you a full refund. That said, my bet is that you'll keep it and rave about it.
Bulld**t you troll...go hide under your rock!!

I shoot exclusively with Olympus, and the set-up you are considering is what's in my hand maybe 80% of the time. The camera is tough as nails. I've taken it into snow, ice, rain, beach, desert, and swampy conditions and it has never faltered, nor has any other of the Oly cameras I own or have owned. The only repair any of mine have ever had was when my grandson used one for a step-stool and the touchscreen didn't hold him up well.
The output of the camera has served me well. I've won several contests and an endowment, and had a couple of gallery shows, shooting mostly nature, birds, and outdoor stuff, but I use this system for family trips, portraits, and street photography as well. There's a ton of lenses available in the m43 sector but I also use non m43 lenses with adapters. It's a lightweight system that lets me stuff 2 cameras and 5 lenses in a carry bag and not break 5 lbs total.
I have a friend who's primarily a raptor photographer who swapped his Canon full frame kit for this camera and the Panasonic long lenses, and he says he has not given up anything but weight.
One of my favorite combos. That and the 75mm. One word of caution though. I’ve broken 2 of the lens hoods on the 12-40.
And on what basis do you claim this? Seems odd absent any facts/experience revealed.
used 4/3 would not give it house room The pixel density is great but the low light is JUNK

Not everybody devotes all their photography time shooting in the dark. But, if you are one of those, nothing will beat a full frame camera and an f/1.2 of some sort.
On the other hand, there of benefits of the M4/3 I get because of the smaller form factor.

That why I keep the ff Nikons. Milky Way and such. Absent the I like the Oly gear.

I had that camera and lens. The thing I could not get used to was the deep depth of field even at small apertures. Otherwise it is a sturdy, infinitely customizable camera with a steep learning curve and a terrific lens.

This is with the em1 original, not the em1ii. I have this printed as a 12x18 on my wall. It’s far from junk.

Junk hell, it's one of the finest bodies on the market.
