You got that lens at a very good price. Sigma makes excellent lenses. I have the Sigma 10-20(EOS mount) and am very happy with it. If I may suggest getting a polarizing filter(82mm), purchase one with a thin mount.

I ordered a slim UV filter to protect it, I may get a polarizing filter. I also have a Sigma 18-300 and it's quality helped me consider the 10-20

Hello,
I have a variable aperture version. I've had it for years. It still works and is a great value, excellent price/image quality ratio lens IMO. You should be very happy with it. Enjoy. Andy

I have two of these that are used on Nikon D5200s. They are fine lenses with superb resolution of the zoom range and very reasonable distortion compared to most lenses in this range. We use them for archaeological photo documentation in restricted or confined areas (cave dwellings, small pre-historic rooms, etc). They are always out with our documentation teams and get far more frequent use then we ever expected.

I had two of them. one on Pentax mount and one in Canon before the Camp Fire took them. Both f4-f5.6.
I must say that I was very happy with both copies. Sounds like you got a great deal and you should really enjoy the lens.

I just ordered one in LN condition for $256. The reviews seem good but I was wondering if there are any happy UHH users. Will be used on Pentax. I have been considering this lens for $399 but the $256 price made me bite.

I have that lens and i love it. I bought in October. I use it on my Nikon D 7200.

If you question the reviews given by those who have and use Sigma why would the reviews given here carry any more weight? Are their responses not a review.

Thank you for your useful information. As usual. 🙄🙄🙄

I had an F4-5.6 version. Bought it new and it was terrible. But their QC was also pretty bad.

Several trips to Sigma in Ronkonkoma NY resulted in me getting one of my sharpest lenses.

If you are buying used, look out for images not being sharp in a corner or a side, which would indicate decentered elements, which was typical for that lens. Take a lot of pictures at different focal lengths of flat surfaces with the sensor plane perfectly parallel to the surface. A brick wall can work.

There will be some complex aka mustache distortion, but that can be addressed with a lens profile, as can CA.

Its a great lens if you get a good copy.

Back when I was a Canon user, the f/4-5.6 variant of that lens was my only my non-Canon lens .... it was also my favorite lens, and the one I missed the most when I switched to Pentax. Almost four years later, now a Pentax KP user, I have the K-mount version of it; it is the only non-Pentax lens in my camera bag, and it is my favorite lens.

I also think that it is a good lens, can't beat the price.
Caution about using a polarizing filter, when you use on on a wide angle, you very probably will get banding in the sky, and that is something that can't be corrected in post.
