What's with the Nun's, hedonistic women have been around for centuries, and the protestant movement has it's share of kinky women in history. Don't forget "Gaberate" may be about decadent Berlin, but it came about because of the Weimar government, and decadent London, Paris and Rome offered the same attractions, when civilizations starts to colapse, the perverts and kinky population come out from the woodwork. Pornography is at least 2000 years old, so nun's are just one element of the kinky world as in "Kamasutra".

Shhhh, stop it! You will get the sleepers to find out about a history that is denied, buried and as Poe's crow "Never more!" squawking.
Like?
The first pornographic photograph was made two and a half years after the Daguerreotype was announced. One of the assistants to Daguerre hired a Lady of the Evening (prostitute) and a taxidermist with a stuffed donkey to attach a fake erect penis so it would appear that intercourse was occurring. Four Daguerreotype were taken. As he tried to pedal his wares he was discovered, arrested and assigned for his day in the Paris court.
All charges were dismissed as the evidence had mysteriously disappeared! Gosh, lucky guy he dodged the bullet! But what happened to the evidence? Private collections, that's what. One of these Daguerreotypes founds its way into a public collection, but of course it is buried kept from public view less the blue noses should discover it and demand the collections destruction.
But it is quite beautiful and technically accomplished! The Daguerreotype are quite tiny and intimate little jewels. No, I will not reveal its location, but there it is.
By the way, I regard the work as contextually brilliant as a placement for history. If we travel back to the era of the high Roman Empire there were the annual games in the Circus Maximus. Breaks were made in the large spectacles, and for those breaks one favorite was some of the best prostitutes would in a group have sex with a donkey until he collapsed from exhaustion, additional payment was made if the donkey expired!
I learned of this from my Latin Teacher, Professor Fabian, master linguist who loved telling amazing stories to his students of the history of The Roman Empire.
So, these things have history if you are privileged to have a deep and broad understanding of such things. Like the wonderful book by Thomas Wolf The Painted Bird in which a your Jewish boy is left to grow up by his parents in the southern veld during World War Two. In the book we find our protagonist perused by a German solider and to escape the solider he leads him to a set of rotten boards that he gets across but collapses under the soldiers weight, where he falls into a large deep hole filled with hunger rats who then eat him alive. Later he is given a kindness from a young woman who he later spies on as she was sex with the family swine as her father and brother watch.
Gunter Grass wrote the Tin Drum, it is loaded with the twisted violent episodes of the life of a child's view of Nazi Germany, it is loaded with metaphors of sexual pleasures and misconducts. Of course we now know that Gunter Grass can not be taken seriously as it was discovered that he had joined the Waffen SS late in the war as a youth! His story that he had to if he wanted to survive, I guess he thinks we just fell off the wagon!
Nothing happens in a vacuum. Nothing said so far has dissuaded me from my position that this body of work, The Sisters of Mercy is not important and significant. Yet thanks to those who are enjoying the view mostly. One of the things about the set is lost in the many images, that of the way the women's skin literally glows, as though it is made of butter or marzipan, so scrumptious!
