Where is the Best Place you have been thrown out of or asked to desist Photographing
A group of us used to shoot birds at a town beach in the morning, a couple of hours before it opened. The town cop who patrolled the area, and had gotten to know us, pulled up one day and said, sorry folks no photography at the beach. One of the group went to town hall to see about special permits to get on the beach early. He was told that wasn't the issue, the were banning all photography at the beach. He explained that they didn't have the authority to ban photography on a public beach without a very good reason.
It turned out the issue was really cell phone pictures being taken in the locker rooms. My friend discussed 'expectation of privacy' with the town attorney. The rule was changed to no photos in the locker room. Our first morning back on the beach the cop came over and welcomed us home.
But keep in mind, if you ask ahead of time and explain why you want special access, you will be surprised how often the answer is yes.

Didn't get to keep any of those shoots. Worked for local teen magazine, when they went bankrupt I learned none of my stuff was my stuff. Negatives always stayed with processor, all I ever had was contacts and memories. Somewhere I have a couple 5x7s. Shot most everyone
around in '66-'68 except the Beatles and Janice.
In Pyongyang, North Korea at a missile test site.. Seem they have no sense of humor and killed me

I'm sorry, meant to answer person that took photos in Van Gough museum in Amsterdam.
I think you're referring to me. I was in the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam about 6-7 years ago. At that time, they allowed taking pics without flash only. They must have changed the rules about taking pics since then. I took a bunch of pictures without flash but they're somewhere in the attic now. I have transferred them in a slideshow. Some of the photos I took that I recall include:
1. A painting of an old pair of shoes
2. "Portrait of Dr Gachet." I believe it is the most expensive painting which sold for $148.6 Million, May 1990.
3. A self-portrait painting which I understand he did 30 of such kind.
Van Gogh is a self-taught genius. Started painting at age of 27. He painted 900 paintings in the last 10 years of his life.
Below is a photo we took of the same cafe Van Gogh painted in September 1888 in Arles, France, "The Cafe Terrace on Place du Forum." You can see a replica of the "Starry Night" which he painted while he was in an asylum located nearby.

Did you ever meet the guys in Lynyrd Skynyrd? Ronnie? I was only 13 in 1977 when the worst day in music history happened so I never saw them live my husband did one week prior. They are sacred in our house
Muse d’ Orsay in Paris. Taking photos of paintings and flash went off, the museum guard got in my face and with a heavy French accent said “No Flash!” Backed off of course.
Casino in Las Vegas; as I lived in Vegas and was aware of the prohibition, I had the camera shut off and the lens cap on. Showed the guard & he seemed satisfied and just walked away.
I find it interesting that you can't use a Camera in the Alamo but you can use a gun with a permit. That means that with a permit you can shoot a gun. Let your mind do what it wants from here!
Ohhhh I would die to see Van Gogh originals and his home or town. I couldn’t contain myself

They were after "my time."
Sorry.

Well, folks, what are you waiting for? Start honing your brush strokes.
Mine was Burger King a few years ago. I used to stop in there to eat or just have a Coke, especially when I had a new lens to test. The tests were of my wife sitting across the booth from me and the lighting was good. I was told that no pictures could be taken in any Burger Kings so I walked out. I checked on the web and discovered that some research had recently been on what fast-food restaurants to find which had the most serious healthcode violations. Burger King came out on top and decided the way to handle the problem was to outlaw photography, and that even included a mother photographing her own child's birthday party. However they did have a list of approved photographers you could hire to photograph the party. Needless to say, I stop at Burger King only if there is no other place to eat.

Buckingham Palace and Kilkenny Castle.
And then there was the time I was walking through a mall in Dublin, camcorder running to take video of this family outing, and within a minute I was surrounded by police.

Not a best place, but I was in the Crystal City Shopping Mall, Washington, DC area taking a photograph of a huge American Flag hanging down from the glass ceiling, with a beautiful blue sky above and excellent lighting. A mall security guard came over and told me I was not allowed to take photos of the structure. I told him I was taking a photo of the flag and he said no can do. How un-American.
