I would gladly pay double for a microwave with just one button - 'Start'

They used to make microwave ovens with a popcorn button :)

A big part of the problem was that vendors (are you listening, Avaya?) cheaped out on user training. Instead, they tried to "train the trainer," giving brief instructions to admins who were not familiar with the phone system, and expecting them to train other users. Consider what it would be like to train someone who had never used a DSLR on how use a Canon 5D Mark IV in one hour, then expect them to train others. It failed miserably.

Bean counters always think they have a faster, cheaper, better way. At least nobody died. Hopefully. Far better then the performance of the Pentagon. Why spend money to put a gun on the Phantom and teach the pilots how to use it when we have missiles that will do the job. That really worked. Well, if you overlook the 10 to 1 loss ratio to the Migs early on. Don't get me started on the M-16 fiasco when it was first issued. Best hi-tech club on the battlefield. All so somebody behind a desk can point to how much money they saved.

Mine has one, albeit the microwave is five years old I think.

Not surprised at all.

How many people buy a PORSCHE and drive it near it’s capacity?

Maybe 5%.

This is an enthusiast site.

Typical PHD photographers who 'shoot from the hip' and understand absolutely ZERO about photography or their cameras ... nor, have one ounce of desire to learn. Complete idiots!!! I don't waste my time engaging in conversation with these type of Morons - all you have to do is watch them take a few pictures and the rest is pretty simple to figure out.

PHD doesn't stand for any special university degree ... it stands for, 'Push Here Dummy.'

My daughter has travelled the world since she was in college 12-15 years ago. I bought her a decent Olympus bridge camera. Do you think she uses it? Nope. She prefers her phone. I pleaded, begged, encouraged her to please take a beginning photography class so she can record her trips. Nope. Just a few crummy iPhone shots not well thought out. When she did use the Olympus she put it on some strange setting that made all the shots look overcooked and with an orange tint. There was no way to fix them. If she had at least shot them in Automatic mode I could have cleaned them up for her and made them look great.

The bottom line is, some people just don't care about Photography. They just like to shoot a few selfies to show their friends on Instagram where they are and what they are doing. She's going to be 34 next week so she's a grownup and I don't see her changing. Different strokes for different folks.

It's their life and their camera. Why do we want to change people when they are happy doing what they are doing and it's not affecting or harming others.

Absolutely. It's their camera. They just have no idea what they have and don't know enough to find out.

I took out my old Nikon film camera the other day and was trying to remember how to use all the settings. I came to realize that in the 2 or 3 years I used it before I switched to digital I never learned how to do anything other than shoot in Auto mode. No wonder all my pictures from Dublin and Paris are so bland. I didn't know what I was doing. What didn't know was how much I didn't know. I didn't even know enough to ask the questions.

Remember, it is from this group that the rest of us are able to score low-mileage equipment at decent prices in a few years time when they are cleaning out their closets.

Sure, but the cost of a microwave, even a relatively
complex model, doesn't exactly compare to the price
of a DSLR.

Price difference is meaningless.

My daughter has travelled the world since she was ... (show quote)

And there's really nothing wrong with that, is there?

Here we are at page 9 and no one has yet
given a good reason, or even a half baked
reason, why ANYBODY should care, in the
least, about photography or images. This
will remain true at page 19, or page 1919.

You had people where you worked who actually worried about disconnecting callers? That was in THIS galaxy?

Some companies, like several I've worked in as a receptionist answering calls, actually care about the customer! If any, including me, dropped a call the customer was immediately called back.
