This is the first I ever heard that meme. Guess I'm 'way out of touch.
"Dangerous cosmic rays will pass near Earth tonight, causing bodily harm if you keep personal electronics near you."
Cosmic rays are passing near earth every night (and every day, too, not to mention twilight periods). Some of them are dangerous, since cosmic rays are comprised of photons and particles having a wide range of energies. Energies above a couple eV (electron-volts, not exposure values) can result in electrons being removed from atoms (ionization). Ionization applied to living things or electronics can cause damage to the thing containing the atom that becomes ionized. So if a cosmic ray hits you it could cause damage whether or not you have some electronics near you. If it hits the electronics it could damage solid state components.
Fortunately for us, there's a lot of atmosphere between us and the cosmic rays. Most of the ionization caused by cosmic rays is in the atmosphere above around 85 km altitude. True, some of the cosmic rays do reach us, but the damage caused by a single cosmic ray is unlikely to do lasting harm. Having said that, there is some speculation that genetic mutations caused by cosmic ray damage are a significant contributor to evolution.
Nah. That fellow Theo Apolexis recently posted an enlightening video revealing the truth about light, the universe, and everything. Bit by bit he opened our eyes to the understanding that particles, photons in particular, do not actually exist. Our sensors are waiting in vain, their little buckets gaping wide, open-mouthed and receptive, when there is nothing coming in other than the odd glue-on or moo-on, evilly intent on besmirching their little shiny surfaces.

Can you post a reference? Google did not bring up anything current for "Theo Apolexis".

You can make your own protective cover with aluminum foil.

Once in a Blue Moon Snopes swerves into a valid assessment. As a rule Snopes is a biased JOKE. Why anyone would read them for anything but comic relief is beyond me. This ONE TIME they got it right.
