I've taken his workshops (lessons). His only post work may be a tiny adjustment to the exposure and a search for dust spots. That's it! His goal in his workshops is to have each student understand their camera settings and how to use them. He's a Sing-Ray Ambassador and they designed a new ND filter in his name...Randall J Hodges Mountain View Neutral Density Filters. (Sorry, didn't mean for this to sound like an ad.)

Very nice gallery of images!

To pick a single photographer to shadow would be difficult. So I thought of two that I didn't see mentioned. Those two artistic geniuses are Storm Thurgerson and Ansel Adams. Totally different but quite unique in their abilities

Happy Shooting

Really enjoyed Storm Thurgerson images, thanks for sharing! Of course, Ansel Adams, too but I was already familiar with his work.

Randal J. Hodges - Kirkland, WA (in camera shooter, no post) http://randalljhodges.com
Pep Ventosa - Portuguesa https://www.pepventosa.com

Absolutely enjoyed this share! Love the work of Pep Ventosa. I think that technique is called image stacking? I would love to learn that, the effect is fantastic!

It's impossible to pick just one.

Ansel Adams, Steve McCurry, Frans Lanting, Eliot Porter, Galen Rowell, Bryan Peterson, Trey Ratcliff, Nasim Mansurov, Serge Ramelli, and from UHH, Gene51, Cany143, rmalarz, CHG_CANON, Steve Perry, Mark Smith, Dave Chinn and others.

Agreed, impossible. But you have some great choices.

For me no need not because I know it all but I like being self taught and everything I don't know is at my finger tips online.

I could not pick just one. There are so many that have been mentioned that I would love to learn from. To me, Ansel Adams was one of a kind. One whom I am surprised was not mentioned is C C Lockwood.
https://cclockwood.com He does beautiful work.

We are on page 11 of this thread and I find it almost incomprehensible that W. Eugene Smith has been mentioned only one time. In my opinion (and many others) he was one of the greatest ( if not THE greatest) photojournalist of the 20th century.

Even if the choice were limited to just this forum the decision to pick “one” would be tough enough...but I have often thought the one person I would love to shoot with is Mike Black. Mike has treated us with the results of his talent in thousands of posts, and somehow maintained an almost humble gratitude the we’ve “liked” them. Without question there is a lot of refined talent displayed on these pages that deserve credit, but Mike is as good as I’ve seen.

Great collection of photographers!

There are two outstanding mentors in Photography that I would shadow.
#1 is Jay P Morgan who knows and teaches all aspects of Photography.
#2 is David Bergman another excellent mentor
