I also would select Steve Perry (Backcountry) - He shoots what I like and explains things very well.

I'll go with Steve Perry as well. I like his style and the fact that he is always passing on his techniques to make all of us a better photographer. Mark Smith is a close second.

In random order, my long list would include: Anne Geddes, Annie Liebowitz, Brooke Shaden, Sue Bryce, Joel Grimes, Meg Bitton, Anna Brandt, David Bailey, Jerry Ghionis, Sarolta Ban, Scott Kelby, Scott Robert Lim, Greg Heisler, Bambi Cantrell, Roberto Valenzuela, Kelly Robitaille, Sal Cincotta, Joe Buissink, Susan Stripling...and the list goes on. It would be nearly impossible to pick just one.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't choose just one artist.

Annie Liebowitz, just look at her body of work. Color/B&W, portraits, landscapes (few), snapshots, centerfolds, you name it and she excels there. https://www.google.com/search?q=annie+leibovitz+photography&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiTrfSiyOjgAhWxSt8KHZ9FCwcQiR56BAgCEBU&biw=1745&bih=886&dpr=1.1

Pete Turner, for his predominantly outrageous and oversaturated colors and textures of landscapes, walls and very few people. http://www.peteturner.com/Classics/index.html

Upfront I must admit that during the seventies Pete Turner caught my eye in the pages of Modern Photography and the many other photography rags during that time. Both Pete Turner and Annie Liebowitz produced their art prior to the digital age without the kind helpmates (crutches) of PS, LR and such that I (we) use today. I greatly admire these two folks that paved the way and so inspired us to think that someday we may also produce their level of art, sigh.

Ok, ok, I share the same last name as Pete, however that is the only thing that we share. . .
You know, Canon just came out with a brand new body and lens that just may. . .

Thanks,

My Dad!
Not only for camera settings, composition, etc., but also for the way he dealt with people to get the shot he wanted!

1. Diane Arbus (to see how she interacted with her subjects, whom she was photographing because they stood out)
2. Robert Frank (later in his career, long after The Americans, to try to see how closely his art mirrored his life)
3. Sylvia Plachy (I would love to see how she works with self-portraits and how she thinks they relate to portraits of others)
3. Alfred Stieglitz (just because)

Some names mentioned on this survey are members of this forum. And I have benefited from their advice and opinions as a hobbyist. And I have benefited from other pro photographers, from articles written about photography, and You Tube videos. Ansell Adams, no doubt was a great photographer. No one could fill his shoes, in his style and category of photography. While some are excellent at what we do. There is usually one category, perhaps another, that photographers are the very best in doing. Respects to them all.
