Sorry, I have a B.A. and I write and speak three languages fluently, yet your statement's meaning went over my head.
I have a better understanding of the situation from "Jimmya"s comments though I still stand by my earlier statement that not much is being said about the other "illegals"

However, thanks for your small input.

That's right chienfou, not much is said about the other illegals but that's up to the media. I did a career in television news / sports and I can tell you that the media will publish what ever they believe is going to get viewers... again I say I know because I was one of them.

You will never hear much about the other illegals for many reasons. Show me a group of Russian illegals who will take to the streets to protest some new immigration law... nope they won't be there.

The same applies to all the others because they live quiet, productive lives, for the most part (of course not including the criminals) and don't call attention to themselves. Of course this is only an example of one of many ways our illegal Mexicans are constantly calling attention to themselves. When they do that they will get media coverage but they'll also get the INS and Sheriff Joe interested... getting the point?

It is great. Great food, great cultural events, great people, hard working people, innovative people, entrepreneural people, smart people, educated people, bi lingual people. Just great people. Just like the Germans, Irish, Slavs, Jews, Italians, Scandinavians, etc. You know just like all the hated immigrant groups that came over!

My grand parents went to work paid taxes and learned the language.
When I was a kid I once asked my grandfather to teach me his language, I was smacked on the butt and told that I was an American and this is the only language I would need to know.
Push a button for English?! My grandfather would have been insulted.

Nicely put pjreed, very nicely put.

In Arizona it's no longer required for businesses to display signs in both languages. Many still do because the Mexicans, legal or not, spend money too and so...

That along with many other changes in recent years has made it much more difficult for an illegal to stay here.

I don't know if this is federal law or not but it is here. When applying for a job, regardless of race, color or creed, the potential employer has to go on the national register to make sure this person is legal to work here.

There's lots of bad green cards floating around so now if that card doesn't show up on the registry - no job.

And so it goes.

Jimmy:

Did those who were discovered actually take the jobs of Americans? I assume that the hiring boss interviewed many who came for the jobs offered and hired the best people he could. Were those who were carted off, replaced by other competent people? If so, did they apply the first go around? There are so many questions to ask and the answers are very hard to find.

When building Phoenix like Miami there was a terrible shortage of skilled labor. The Latinos filled that void. Now that the housing slump is over, most have left and the illegals are hard to find.

Is the same occurring in Phoenix?

The myth of speaking English by immigrants is disputed by the facts:

1914 Newspapers

French 53
German 616
Italian 127
Scandinavian 174
Slavic 277
Other 150

In the late 1880s the states authorized schools to teach in various languages in order to keep students in school - most Wisconsin schools taught in German.

Of the 46 States comprising the US in 1911, 17 passed laws requiring English be used in official documents.

Why didn't our grandparents teach us the tongue they spoke as a child? The answer lies in that they were discriminated against if they used their native tongue and were called green horns.

The necessity of having a predominant language are multifaceted. The most important is for unification and a sense of nationalism. As an aside the military requires a national language. The Civil War did more to make English the national tongue than any other event. Also, because of WWI and WWII the male population learned to read and write and to do so in English.

It should be noted that by the second generation - at least in the United States - English becomes the language of the immigrant family. Why, because kids listen to music, play with all sorts of kids, and because a common language is needed to communicate with each other. Here in the United States that language is English.

Thank you sarge69, that's the way we feel. If Oblame-o had put in 20% of the effort into finding Americans jobs as he does for harboring illegals we wouldn't have such high unemployment.

BVM Much to your chagrin the President's policies have created 4.5 million private sector jobs. Where the job lose has occurred is in the public sector - you know small government!D I thought that was what you wanted!

You can't have it both ways.

NO, unfortunately! YOU see the rich, pseudo- intellectuals snobs need them to be nannies, maids, gardners. AND it makes them feel so superior to say " Juan, will you clean the pool, I have to go downtown and bail my son out of Sharif Joe's jail, he got picked up for selling drugs again!"

Can one of you Sheriff Joe supporters tell me what exactly appeals to you about this man.Is it that he can't accept the President being born in Hawaii despite all evidence that says he was? Is it the fact he makes male prisoners wear pink underwear?
Seriously, give me one paragraph on why you think this person represents the values that the Republican Party wants to project and who you think he will appeal to.

Can you or anyone else give a scientific/forensic rebuttal to his birth certificate findings? If not maybe you should be more interested in fact finding than repeating Obot juice induced talking points. Check the facts, you might learn something.

OH, another one in hiding! Well big boy, come on down we have a pair of pink panties for you!

The only way you go to Tent City is if you have a long rap sheet.
The sharif feels if our boys in the service have to live in tents, no A/C, no TV and have to eat out of a bag, should prisoners get any better.

The return rate is extremely low.

Ask those that have been there and they'll tell you " I don't ever want to go back there again!"

The desert is a big place, room for plenty of tents.

Perhaps if other states tried it, you might have the same success rate. In states where the crime rate is high, they might like to give it a try.

Your one Joe Biden is such a wiener, you should give him a crown. But than you'd have to take it from Oblame-o.
