[quote=StanMac]Saying it is so, doesn't make it so. Truth is, on many measures of "greatism", the U.S. falls short, far short on several. There is one criteria, though, where the U.S. holds the top spot - Military Strength. But, we may not hold that spot too much longer. Realizing that fact, and acting to move the U.S. toward exceptionalism is something that we all need to work toward.

Now, I expect that many will tell me I should leave the U.S. and go somewhere else, but I'm going nowhere. I intend to stay and, through my votes and activism, work toward making the U.S. as exceptional as many people think it
But exceptionalism is subjective. Especially when one put on the blinders and rules out many of the facts. Some things seem excellent on paper but when put to the task they simply do not work. The truth eventually comes out. Biggest fault to this is they often ignore the human element. But the thing here is with America we can change but in other countries where freedom is suppressed that is not possible. And some people think they can have their cake and eat it too. But they forget that their is opposition in all things, meaning if you give to one you take away from the other.
Facts that are important are. You cannot make the weak strong by bring down the strong.
Fact #2 is Socialism is for the weak and not the strong. It only weakens the strong. Unless you can mentally change the attitude of the strong and allow them to share instead of force them to share you have created a form of slavery.
Fact #3 https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/woman-grew-socialism-now-message-anyone-aoc-deceived/?utm_source=Email&utm_medium=eheadlines&utm_campaign=dailypm&utm_content=ttp
Fact #4 Socialism has never worked in any country, it simply does not work.
Fact #5 Many country were some of the top countries in the world until they tried Socialism now they are at the bottom.
Fact #6 AOC now lives a life of luxury in DC now that she make $175,000 per year and her constituent live still in a bed of squalor.

I guess AOC has replaced HRC as the "evil witch" for the right. I'm not sure how luxuriously Rep Ocasio-Cortez can live on that salary in Washington, D.C. For sure though, AOC will be working to improve the lot of those people who are "living in squalor", as you describe it, instead of working to ensure those people continue in squalor and help the rich get richer at their expense as her predecessor and the past majority did.

Take my word for it that no one is living a "life of luxury" in DC for $175K. She's not
starving, but $175K is not a lot of bucks in this town.

I do not see the rich getting rich at the expense of the poor, unless they work for them. They might be suppressed or may likely have suppressed their own selves. I mean human character of many is wanting a hand out and not a hand up. BTW AOC is living in a complex, gated, that does not allow poor people in. Maybe she is not rich, yet. But if she serves many terms she will be millionaire before she is ousted just like the rest of the Congress people. Pelosi never worked in the private sector but is worth over 100 Million. Maybe she should give up some of that to others. Buy instead she wants to take junket on your dime and take her friends with her. BTW did you pay for her vacation to Hawaii.
Ricardo do you make $175,000 how about a loan?

I see you're OK with the many millions we've spent for the POTUS's golf outings and his family's junkets - way more in two years than Pelosi. You obviously don't know those people you denigrate. Have you ever been poor (I mean really poor), lived on the street, down and out, unable to get employment, needing a leg up, not knowing if you'll be able to pay your rent, feed your family dinner tonight because you're unable to find employment after being laid off because the firm was coming up short on it's quarterly profit targets? If you've never been in those people's shoes you have no standing to say anything adverse about the character of people who have been there and are there.

If I was in AOC's situation, I'd fear for my safety from the radical right-wing zealots who are already targeting her character and motives in the media. Living in a gated community is probably a good idea.

I'm glad it received such positive responses. I'm very sorry it has prompted a flame war here on UHH.

I HAVE, AS A conservative, seen little of the actions that you suggest. But I have seen it from the other side, the riots, the looting, the shooting of the people in the churches, Ft. Worth, New York truck, Boston Marathon, and the list goes on. Then was the conservative Senator on the baseball field. I wonder if you became a little confused.
Do really want to go into the Trump Obama comparison. Michelle spent millions on vacation while her husband played golf. The there was story of how Obama took a trip and they had to fly their dog on a separate airplane. A plane and security for a dog. Trump takes no salary for himself and fly his own plane where ever he goes. But enough of Trump because you are not listening.
Yes I WAS POOR. I worked my way through college, we lived on $80 a month for rent and shopped for food at a local warehouse. Got by on $20 per week for food for my wife and I. While others had plenty. I was wondering if I was going to have enough to pay my tuition let alone the rent. But I was blessed because I tried. If you think my life has always been a bed of roses well it hasn't. I never had medical insurance because I could not afford it. Nor had I any life insurance, or disability insurance. My car broke down and I could not afford to fix it. Yes I have been poor but not destitute. But during my days we did not have medicaid, nor government assistance. We were on our own. We did not have all of the government programs that are so easy to get these days. You know a person these days even if they are poor have better than kings did 150 years ago.
There are many others who are poor in this country except the Blacks but it is by their own choosing. I will help anyone who needs a hand up but I will not have my money stolen from me by some
Freshman Senator and be given to people that do not need it because they are to lazy to earn it. Maybe you should pay attention to what Trump has done for Black employment.

There are just haters of good and America here. Even though they enjoy the freedom provided by the being a Christian nation and the freedom that flowed from Christian concepts and the Constitution based on those principles and the Declaration that gives God credit.
They spew vitriol towards our system but refuse to move to the sh..t holes they say are so much better.
And yes your photo has gotten even more praises for the symbolism this morning.

All very good.
With the understanding that it remains crystal clear that one does not have to embrace Christianity to be a good, law-abiding, hard-working, informed, patriot of this country; respectful and grateful for the Constitution and the freedom that it provides.
