Some Nikon focus Engine in the lens are breaking. I let fix my 75-300 vr. When I turned the zoom ring I felt like there was like a Bump and the focus was Raggedy and loud. From 40 pics I my got maybe 10 sharp. I believe the camera showed some errors message too. Now I feel like I have “the lens” quiet -focus comfortable .....

If it were my camera I would make sure I had the latest updates on it. Then I would do a total reset of the camera settings. Then I would clean all the contacts on the camera/lens. If all that failed to fix the problem I would give Nikon a call.
