Thanks Haymaker for hosting a wonderful topic. It's sure to be a hit. I've stumble on bokeh by using a wide open aperture and short DOF. I'm not sure that's the correct way to achieve it, but it works for me.

This one was created using bubble wrap.

Nice series, Haymaker. Great kickoff for your challenge, and thanks for hosting one.

Very little in bloom around here to shoot fresh so you'll know these come out of the archives.

p.11 Colorful assortment, Larry. Everything here is white.

The fish is wonderful! I'd say you have hit upon a winning bokeh making technique! I like how both light and colors work to create pleasing bokeh that nicely offsets the subject.

The back and white bokeh of your first image really sets off the pink of your subject flower. I love the three red buds! Great set of images!

I like the cityscape!.. and I hadn't thought of the background...
good idea!

PAToGraphy wrote:
@danersmiff - there are times when I purposely create just the bokeh and then reproduce it in a variety of colors. In the "Cityscape" I purposely used manual focus and turned the lens focus ring until the city lights became bokeh circles. The other bokeh was tree lights, I think, and played with sliders and got different hues. You can use for backgrounds or some pretty cool abstracts.
