The value is what someone is willing to pay. You can see that on eBay. Go to eBay and search for your items. Then go down the left column and click on "Sold items." That will show you how much people were willing to pay. Of course, the selling price depends on who was searching for a particular item at the time and who else was bidding. Still, the pricing will be realistic.

AGREED! Go to eBay, search using ADVANCED features, specify SOLD items. That's reality.

The equipment you mention is as noted...”virtually worthless” to most. However, if in good condition, etc. are great gifts to family or friends who have interest in photography in a nostalgic sense. It may even encourage someone to expand his/her interest in photography.

I have some early-70's photographic equipment ("analog" film cameras) in like-new condition that I am considering liquidating. I would appreciate recommendations on how/where I could obtain a realistic, honest appraisal of their current value. Not sure if there are any websites that would provide a "roughly right" value of my cameras or if I would have to find someone who specializes in photographic equipment appraisals. Please advise. Thanks!

I see all the nay-sayers and doom and gloom to old film equipment, but one might note on Vintage Camera Collecting sites many people will drool over a rare-ish Brownie. Of more realistic equipment that may still fetch a descendant used price are some of the high-end but not super popular or common cameras in their day. This might include nearly any Leica Camera, The Canon F1, Pentax LX. Nikon model's such as F thru F4 are too common to have much collectible value today except to avid Nikon fans. Photomic Heads and High Points can have value and even old standard meter-less models to the right collector.

Just go to eBay and check the "sold items" category, there you will find the models that you have and the price they have been selling for in the past!

Best way to know a value is what it sold for.

There is an organization called ASA that is an appraisal entity that has certified members in all fields of appraisals from real estate, jewelry to ships. Google them and make an inquiry. They are the best and most respected appraisal organization in the country. I am a former Certified General Appraiser, but limited my practice to real estate.

Thanks, it is very probable that your Zeiss lenses are valuable, the Hasselbald, I am unfamiliar with but it could be of value, the Nikon and the 200mm lens not so much, they are not worthless but they will not bring the same value as hte Zeiss and Hasselbald.

If the Hasselbald is in good condition it is indeed worth a bit of money....

Not sure which Zeiss 80 you have but it too is valuable.

Zeiss 150mm is also bringing good money....

If you go to KEH.com, you can get a quote that you might consider the blue-book (wholesale) value, if they have any interest at all. Consumer grade film equipment is virtually worthless and can't even be given away. You might also search ebay and focus on recent completed sales, not the misleading asking prices. The condition of the equipment as little impact other than for high-end collector's items.

What he said! There are numerous on-line camera stores that advertise they buy used gear. Give em a jingle.
By the time you finish your due diligence you should be an expert in the value (or lack thereof) of what you have.
