Greetings...
I have some early-70's photographic equipment ("analog" film cameras) in like-new condition that I am considering liquidating. I would appreciate recommendations on how/where I could obtain a realistic, honest appraisal of their current value. Not sure if there are any websites that would provide a "roughly right" value of my cameras or if I would have to find someone who specializes in photographic equipment appraisals. Please advise. Thanks!
You can usually find prices on eBay that will give you some idea of the value of such equipment.
I have found that the prices can vary quite a bit so I usually go for the average.
If you go to KEH.com, you can get a quote that you might consider the blue-book (wholesale) value, if they have any interest at all. Consumer grade film equipment is virtually worthless and can't even be given away. You might also search ebay and focus on recent completed sales, not the misleading asking prices. The condition of the equipment as little impact other than for high-end collector's items.

Try MPB.com- very well thought of.

What do you mean by "consumer grade film equipment"?
What cameras do you have? Condition has a big impact on the sale of cameras,( That goes for anything put up for sale.) like 30% of the price is condition. Do the cameras still work ok, without any problems. Do the cameras take 35mm or 120mm film? If not, very hard sell.
Consider a Canon AE-1 Program. This advancement to original mass-market mid-1970s AE-1 sold for around $700 in 1981 ($2000 in 2017 dollars). Used, the AE-1P now sells around $180 from reputable sources. But as an individual with one to sell, you might get $70 trying to sell to a reseller. The completed sales on ebay will look like they sell for $200. But again as an individual, can you get that much for your for-sale post?
Something more exotic like a Leica M4 or an FD 85mm f/1.2L will still sell for around $1000, if in pristine condition.

Just go to eBay and check the "sold items" category, there you will find the models that you have and the price they have been selling for in the past!

As a guide, remember this is retail. A consumer would get half to a third of this.
I kept my old cameras and lenses and have them in a display case.
I just saw a Pentax K 1000 without lens up for sale for $100.00 . Who own it?
One easy way is to look for similar products on Amazon or Ebay and see what they are selling for.
Be careful, though. If you go on Ebay and see a mint Nikon F2 for $30, you may end up buying instead of selling...

My father once told me, "anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it". With that in mind the best place to find what your equipment is currently selling for is to go on Ebay and look up your equipment. Then in the left column scroll down and find "sold for", click on that and it will bring up current auctions on your equipment and what they sold for. It is the best place to look for the current value of your equipment.
