England has very strict gun laws, and violent crimes have risen almosy every year. Chicago has a ban on guns, and they have the highest murder rate in the U.S.

All you accomplish when you outlaw something is create a wealthy bussiness for criminals. Drugs are illegall. Do you think there are none around? Only law abiding citizens will not have guns if they are outlawed, criminals will still have them. Not only that, the criminals will know you don't have one!!

But the criminals know you probably have one now, but that doesn't stop them. Short of carrying your gun in your hand ready to shoot they will always have it over you. They are crims. They will be ready to shoot first. BUT by not having so many guns you may stop the loonies from massacring people. That's what I am on about.

I'd rather them "think" I don't have a gun than "know" I don't have a gun. If there is such a difference, why in the 2 places I mentioned above is the murder rate skyrocketing. I'll tell you, the criminals KNOW others don't have guns.

The best way to stop the loonies from massacring people is for someone in that crowd to have a gun!!

Approximately 1 year ago, in Colorado, a man went into a church a began shooting people. One church goer was an off duty cop who had his weapon with him. The only person that died was the lunatic. How many innocent people would have died under your plan???

Most people never heard about this shooting, because it doesn't support the liberal media's stand on gun control!!

OK what I am getting at is that crims usually (but not always) don't just walk up and shoot people - unless they know them and don't like them or else they have been paid to. The people that usually do the killing are nut, bad losers and spouses. You won't stop a crim getting a gun - hell there are lots of illegal guns here in Aus. It just makes it less likely to have a massacre - but of course you won't stop them all.

A criminal is a human being who has chosen to commit acts that are against the law. As a human being they have human feelings and human emotions. As a human being they do not want to die, therefore they WILL think twice if they know that human being they want to vicitmize has a gun and is willing to use it to defend themselves. If we would not give that criminal the image of being an animal who has no human emotions, who is not afraid to die, someone we should be afraid of, then that criminal would not be as successful at terrorizing their vitims, and would not be a successful criminal.

I really didn't want to get involved with an unwinable debate.
My family were almost victims of a home invasion about 20 years ago. I am glad I had my gun to drive him away before something horrible happened.
I have car insurance to protect my car. I have homeowners inurance to protect my home, and I have a gun to protect my family. I have a gun to protect myself because it is my right. If you do not want a gun that is your right. I do not have an issue with your choice.
I got called for jury duty for a crime in 1998 by two hoodlums that broke into an elderly doctor's home to rob and kill him and his wife. They tried to strangle them first but beat them both to death with a fish billy, (lead lined baseball bat for dangerous fish)instead. They only got away with a few dollars and the remote for the TV.
Cheshire Connecticut is only 20 some miles from here. It "was" the home of the Petit family. Two lowlifes broke into the home and murdered the mother and two daughters. One of the children was raped. The father escaped through the cellar hatchway afer being beaten and left for dead. The house was set on fire to cover up the crime. Both criminals were caught and given the death penalty. It was on national news.
In both instances they chose not to arm themselves. Sad to say.. It was their choice.

What about the shooting today in Nuevo York??? Some of the 9 victims were hit by police fire.

Don't worry, I have the solution, take away all of the guns from the police.

Everybody forgets about the ass in Norway (where they have some of the strictest gun laws, BTW), he killed almost 70 people. How, you may ask?? None of the victims were armed!!!

This is a terrible thing that should not have happened. Doesn't this guy know that firearms are illegal to have in New York City? Every criminal knows that. Posession in NYC can and will result in incarceration and or a fine.
You may be jumping to conclusions about some of the victims being hit by "Friendly Fire" from the Police. Of course it must be true... It was on TV and everything the media states is true.
Not all gun owners are murderers and killers, like not all photographers are child pornagraphers.

How can anyone know if some of the victims were struck by police fire? That is something that cannot be decided until the ballistics on each bullet and gun involved in the incident comes back from the crime lab, which, unlike CSI tv shows, can take months. Sounds like the media jumping to conclusions once again!
