What kind of flash and strength of light did you use?
And what shutter speed?
Great, really great shot---> the curve looks kind of like a fractal.
Crispy and clean shot.

I liked your "Spiral Galaxy of Water" name, or "Spiral Water Galaxy," or "Water Galaxy Spiral," lol!

I can only think of "AMAZING". What a shot. This is where everyone should be aiming . Create great photos. You don't have to go to any special place to find the perfect shot .

Thanks for the comments everyone and the suggestions for the name. I like to collaborate. For me talking and listening to others often results in something much better than what I come up with on my own. I always learn something new.

I think I was at iso 200. Shot with a Canon 85mm f1.2 prime lens. Aperture was between f8 and f14. I usually shoot portrait type shots between these settings. My shutter is usually at 1/125. Ambient light does not come into play here. Exposure has to be all flash. I posted the flash setup earlier if anyone is interested.

One other note about focus. Focus has to be achieved with lights. I briefly turned on the Einstein modeling lights.(this really drains the battery power)
I focused with autofocus, then switched my camera to manual and verified I was still in focus. I kept my model in the same spot(indention in the sand dug out slightly)

That's pretty much all the scoop!

My apologies for any misspellings. I'm on a Mobile device.

Make good Art! Thanks again for looking and commenting everyone!

Russ

I was trying to figure out a name for this shot and found it difficult to come up with one. The shot was taken looking over the Gulf of Mexico at night.

Any suggestions on a name? Water prayer?
The photograph was purposely composed unbalanced. I wanted entry of water in left third, water going out of frame and then reentering frame. Stars are droplets of water.

I haven't had a problem freezing small water... Big water was much more challenging.

Comments (A name?) welcome.

I have NO idea how you did that, but it is WAY cool. As for a title, I'm not sure it needs one. Printed, framed and titled "Untitled" leaves everyone the ability to "name" it as they see it.

I really like the idea of leaving it untitled---it's an amazing shot so let peoples mind make up what they see. Magnificant shot, magnificiant shot. Oh by the way did I mention magnificant shot...............

Thanks Coco and to everyone who gave me suggestions and comments. The pic will be displayed at the West VIrginia Association for the Arts beginning in September. I may leave the name off, to many good ideas. I really appreciate all the kind comments and suggestions. I hope everyone will try to produce better photographs. Every now and then I see the diamond and go WOW. The diamonds are what makes me keep coming back here as well as the positive attitude of the people here. Thanks again and ...Make good Art!

I know I'm too late for this party, but I have to say it. You have a great name in the title of the thread. I suspect, having glanced through some of your other threads, that your talent for naming images is quite close to your talent for capturing them.
