Trains Down Under.
A pair of G&W Australia locomotives skirt the shores of Lake Hart in the mid north of South Australia with a load of iron ore in April 2017. A few kilometres further on the train stops for a crew change near Wirrappa and is dwarfed by the local terrain as it powers up and continues its journey south.

Note the fuel tanks behind the second loco are for refuelling the locos on the run. The car behind the fuel tanks is for releif crew who travel with the train.

The train passes a dry clay pan as it continues its journey south to the steel works at Whyalla in South Australia.

Thank you for your comments Jo.
thanks for the interesting post. I knew G&W had operations down your way, but never realized that some trains would actually carry fuel tenders and relief crew quarters. How long is the run?
Nice series and very interesting story!

Thanks for looking travis. The complete round trip would be about 750 miles with now towns and very little population for most of that distance.
Appreciate the thumbs up Longshadow.
Great set and interesting story!
WOW! great set.. The color scheme seems to be universal. In Oregon, we have locos with the same paint job. KEEP sending more....please
