Wonderful result, Linda! Original quail?
Thanks, Mike! I think at least one quail is original; I will check when I go back to re-position the moon

I would say the colours are still within the realm of what's feasible, but for me the sky would have to be less noisy. I know your days of working with film have left you with a certain resilience when it comes to tolerating grain and noise, but to my mind skies need to be smooth in order to look their best. And you don't have to lose definition in the clouds to achieve that.
Thanks, R.G. I'll try some Dnoise when I move the moon later this morning

What I noticed was that my eye was hopping back and forth between the moon and the right hand fence gate and bird area, lingering occasionally on the bird on the post, then back to hopping back and forth again. So I thought to close the distance of that hop, moving the moon over above the gate peeping from the horizon. I really like the fence/birds, and the amount of light you have lighting the foreground. I like the colors. guess just not where you put the moon.
Thanks very much, Mark! I'll try a flip and re-post later.

Love the layering in the mountains, it seems to continue on up into the clouds. Great work Linda.

Beautiful shot Linda. The birds keep on capturing my attention when my attention should be focused on the beautiful moonrise. It could be me though. I cloned both birds and now my entire attention goes to the main subject, the moon.
I agree with the gentleman who pointed out to the noisy sky. That is something that will not bother many photographers but going to an enlargement the grain will be noticeable.
I like the mood of the scene and I believe that you did a magnificent job.

I like his a lot Linda, with one caveat. For my old eyes the moon is too bright. I think if it was toned down a bit I could like it even more.

Thank you, William! I'm about to play with the components a bit more per suggestions. I discovered both birds were there originally; guess that's why I took the photo

Thanks, Rich! I think I'll put up the various components for other people to edit. There are a lot of great suggestions here!

I love this just the way it is. The soft colors are beautiful and I think the balance is good. The plump quail are precious. You should make "quail stamps" for future use. 😊

I can't add anything of any intelligence here that hasn't already been said, so i will simply say that i really like it!

Thanks so much, Carol! I definitely have to add "plump quail" to my brush/stamp collection. I did a quick one of the entire foreground a little while ago. Here it is, flipped, with just the moon layer. The gate is too big, I think, but note how the color comes through from the moon/sky layer onto the "white" of the gate. So much fun to try these!

Thank you, Marylea! I'm still playing

I discovered my two quails were "original" to the scene, so decided to add one more when I experimented with this version.
