These owls are found all over Arizona usually on top of flat roofed houses in senior citizen communities. The scientific name is Bubo fibreglasious although some of them are of the sub-spices potteri. They are relatively easy to photograph as I have never seen one try to move.

We used to keep one attached to the boom of our sailboat to deter birds from nesting in the rigging. It averts the dilemma of finding a nest containing eggs under a sail cover.
