Arizona Owl

These owls are found all over Arizona usually on top of flat roofed houses in senior citizen communities. The scientific name is Bubo fibreglasious although some of them are of the sub-spices potteri. They are relatively easy to photograph as I have never seen one try to move.

Yeah we do. You would not believe how strong these owls are. Even in 60 mile an hour wind they cling to the roof like they were nailed there.

Really strong talons, I guess! Be careful one doesn’t grab you.

You can fill them with lead shot or sand to give them weight. 3 or 4 inches in the bottom is probably enough weight. If you are not seeing any song birds, it's because these owls are scaring them away.

Nice capture Curmudgeon. I spotted this one in Colorado in 2013,
still sitting on the same post.
