Nicely done !! Reading others responses it seems you have lit some creative fires and memories for the Hogs. For me it reminds me of both of my Grandfathers. I have my paternal Grandfathers toolbox with 1920-40 era tools in the shed and my maternal Grandfather worked section for Colorado and Southern and I have a C&S lantern in the shed also. Good reason to work on my little used still life technique next time I get out to the shed.

I appreciate your comments; I also get ideas from other Hogs and really enjoy viewing their photos for thoughts and inspirations.

Thanks so much. When the weather is 5 degrees outside, I like to do
some still life's insides. Can't wait for spring!

Wow. Very nice. Great composition and the lighting and focus are all very nice. What equipment did you use sir? Thanks for sharing.

Great shot and a great idea. I'm 75 and have my grandfather's tool box and old molding planes. I'm going to try to capture spirit in those old tools too. Not sure I can capture it as well as you have with a single simple shot, but I can try. I've seen some of the work he turned out with those hand tools and it is impressive what an old time carpenter could do.

Appreciate your comments. I used my RX10iv Sony. The only lighting was from the lantern. I actually turned off all the room lights. And Doug, I am a female! No offense and thank you for your very nice comments.

Agree, hand tools are so much more interesting then electric ones and you have to be more skilled to use them.

Thanks Dean S. That's kind of what I was trying for.

It passed my test about looking at it for more than a couple of seconds.
Very nice shot. Could it be changed?
Of course. Does that mean it would be better? Hmm.

Great capture! I just had another thought. Add a plank or 1 x 2 piece of oak. Make sure you can photograph the grain of the wood. It might do nicely to act as a platform for the lantern. But play with it in the photograph. Add a white background instead of black. Use a light overhead with a barn door on a truss. Try in monotone rather than color.
Very evocative photograph. That is the true art of photography, my friends

I'm glad you like my thoughts on this evocative photo. I have created some outstanding heirloom photos with a wood plaque and some Enviro Tex liquid epoxy. Try it. It's fun. But it's very messy

Wonderful ideas, Scruples. Just looked up Envirotex epoxy on Amazon to find out about the product as I was not familiar with it. VERY interesting. Did you glue your photos to wood or back them some other way? Have any other hints on working with this product?. Thanks again for all your thoughts.

Well done. I'll bet a lot of us had tool boxes like that 'back in the day'.
