Have been receiving promotional material from On1 Raw for some time, but have yet to pull the trigger. Have been using, sporadically, PSE 12, 14 , 18, but I personally find it a bit laborious. The new On1 Raw looks very intuitive and simpler. The last posts on this in UHH were back last year and did not go much beyond the beta version on edition 2018. Has anyone got an experienced view with the later 2018 edition or the new 2019 one?

They are up to 2019.2 - and my main complaint has been that they removed the quick mask brush when they introduced On1 Raw. The 2019.2 has a new and improved quick masking brush, which lets you specify what you want to keep AND what you want to get rid of in the same screen. It makes the task of creating a mask and selecting areas of an image much faster than anything on the market. The raw to bitmap worklfow is also better, as is the import/review/rate/cull process. I'd say this software is finally ready for prime time.

Thanks, Gene. Exactly what I need to know.

I use the current version, just updated yesterday, and I really like it. Wonderful software at a reasonable price.

On1 is a terrific program. Like others I got the latest free update this week. It does have a steeper learning curve than Photoshop Elements, but it does so much more.

I'm not sure what you found laborious about Elements. But if you found it too complex I'm not sure On1 will be your cup of tea.

Bill, More laborious than complex. That simply may relate to a little impatience on my part with doing some of the tasks available.
To all respondents: again, thank you all. Your comments are very important in making a decision based on others' experience rather than simply advertisements.

Love ON1 Photo RAW. Got rid of Lightroom, Photoshop and many plugins. ON1 Photo RAW does everything I need and I only have to buy and learn one program.

Apparently On1 Photo Raw 2019.2 has AI-assisted masking. You'll find a brief description HERE.

I am reluctant to stop using Lightroom because of the library system that I have set up and therefore use ON1 as a plug-in. Who has experience with migrating photos to ON1’s catalog, and how did it go?

When Apple discontinued support of Aperture, I needed new PP software. Tried PS Elements but wasn’t crazy about it. Didn’t want to do LR because it didn’t have Layers. Bought On1 Photo RAW 2017 and had a difficult learning curve. However, the latest version was a MAJOR improvement in terms of the interface. I’m now a big fan and strong supporter. This software just keeps getting better and better and better!!! And there are lots of tutorial videos to teach you the basics —both inside of On1 and throughout You Tube. Scott Kelby, Colby Brown, Matt Kosklowsky (sp?) have all done great training videos for On 1. I think you’ll like the results!

I use 2019-2. Quick mask is much easier, still waiting for photo stacking to be completed, although it is working OK. Check out the videos.

+7.. aperture user until apple dropped it with plugins from Nik, macFun, On1 and topaz, then LightRoom until Adobe changed pricing scheme and no layers. Really tried everything including Affinity, MacFun which became Skylum using Luminar but until recently no DAM, Photos, Topaz Studio, Nik, .. did I miss anything - laughs even Gimp.. On1 became my go to with On1 2018. Even better with 2019 especially .2. The A.I. masking tool is magic if you are into composites. I really like the browser DAM better than a catalog because they get corrupted so easily and its fast. You can use either your OS browser or On1 it doesn't care if I delete something from a folder because it only syncs to what is there. As said great video help from wonderful instructors especially for Landscapes - Matt, Hudson, etc. Every day I find something new it does. And it has HDR, Pano and focus stacking built in so no need to purchase other products. I do still using luminar for some projects and when I'm am doing fine art I love Topaz Studio (especially since it is free!).

Get a trial of On1 , you will love it, I bet.

I have On 1 RAW 2019.2 and Photoshop CC. I don't find either software to be intuitive, but the functionality of ON1's Layers leaves much to be desired compared to PS CC.
