Pay attention. I never said I did. I simply pointed out there was a time in America when these things were said and no offense was made nor taken. For the most part they have gone away.

I just reread my post. Nowhere in there did I say I engaged in this type behavior. I pointed out my grandfather told jokes on himself and that Polish people told jokes on themselves. To immediately take offense, and there was probably offense meant, I would have to look at your parting shot and assume you meant to be offensive to me by accusing me of joking about others nationality, race or religion. But of course you ASSUMED I had from reading something in my post that was never there to begin with. Are you starting to get the point now? These days anybody who says anything at all can be labeled a racist, misogynist, anti semite or anti whatever the supposed victim wants to be offended by. Nobody offended you. You only chose to be offended.

Read the entire thread and you will see that other comments are made about, The Dutch and another about Scottish.

How about showing respect for the OP and and letting this hi-jacking conversation die. At least show some maturity and take it to PMs

My apologies. Apparently I am the only person at fault. You are totally correct and my apologies to the OP.

It didn't seem like the OP wanted a discussion. He said to message him, and provided an email address.

Thank you for your offer but I do not print enough photos to justify the cost of a printer and the ink. From past experience and what I read here on UHH the biggest complaint is the cost of the ink.

My Canon MX920 does great for my printing.
Others are sent to Costco.

I have the same Canon printer. Does a GREAT job printing my photos, puts Walgreens photos to shame. I bought some photos that they adhered to wood. The prints were so bad I came home reprinted on my Canon and Mod Podged them over the ones Walgreens printed. Now my hallway is a gallery of my favorite photos and I can change them out anytime I want.

I have a printer outfit I use for anything over 11 x 14---
Anyone who has worked with a printer company much
can tell you how valuable an offer this is.
If you are serious, want a specific look, then---
Call a local print guy.
The one I use is very knowledgeable with Photoshop.
If I send him a shot that needs a tweek, we can do it there.
Considering the many variables, color, style, etc-
(metallic paper, glossy, semi glossy, matte, linen, different canvases, etc)---
It is with out a doubt, the better way to print that 24 x36 photo you got in Utah...
or Africa... Yosemite.... Big Sur....

yah, i have seen that issue. There are tools out there to get them to match, i've got one in the back shop but i can't remember what it is atm.. I used it quite some time ago now and haven't had to use it again as i still have the same monitor computer combo.
and yup, all the photo and digital editing tools in the world won't work worth a mouse poop if the colors don't match from the printer. when you see what makes you happy on the screen and then the printer doesn't put out the same colors it can get super frustrating.
i would talk more in detail with you on this but don't have the time atm but would love to continue this discussion later.

well, most here don't seem to have much of any thought about it. they don't seem to have alot to say about the offer rather more to say about how they don't like to spend much on printers or ink. lol
I have over a k of printers and a lot, lot, lot of ink as i fix and sell the things and thought to see if i could do someone a favor and use some of the printers i have got that i have gotten the best comments back from the professional photographers that i have talked with along the way and jus the average guys who have made comments on the quality of their prints and what i have seen myself. And i have seen more printing that i would guess 99.99% of those out there... lol but it is nice to see someone at least know what i was offering and that it was worthwhile like i thought it was.
having the variety of printers and plotters that i have is far from the norm..

appreciate your comment.

wow, i guess hijacked into a different direction is putting it mildly..

i have the tools and materials to do what i mentioned and didn't intend to take anyone on any rides to do so, was just thinking that some might appreciate a person who deals with printers every day giving them some direction on what their print needs might be best fulfilled by or maybe print something for someone if they wanted something they couldn't do.

boy, if volunteering to help gets this kind of whipping, i see why this country has gotten the way it is now.
Us country people are still raised to help people if they need it where i come from, sad to see that has gotten to be so few of us anymore.

To the OP:

Thank you, SIR! You have posted a kind and most generous offer to help others and that should really be the spirit of this forum. o r the most part it is but there are a few folks here who have little respect and come here just to argue and run their ugly mouths!

As a long-time commercial photographer, I have spent a good part of my life in the black and white and color laboratories of my studio. While making the transition into digital photography I had to apply my skills to the new methods. I have always had a keen interest in graphic arts, lithographic printing technologies. Xerography and nowadays, in ink printing. I would so appreciate good conversations about the subject with knowledgeable folks like yourself.

Nowadays, so many folks never get to enjoy and display their photography in the printed form and as a result of this trend, there is a death of knowledge and savvy in that aspect of the art. Besides the brands and types of printers and related monitors, there is so much to learn about papers, surfaces, textures, reflectivity and the effect these choices have on the final print. There is color correction, ink types, printer maintenance, mounting and framing methods, computer/monitor calibration, and so much more.

As for costs, everything in good photography is costly- cameras, lenses, lighting gear, meters, support equipment and all of that goes for naught if the final images are not well presented. Analog color production was/is costly as well. Every time I would mix and load new chemistry into my processing machinery, thousands of dollars were poured into those machines and storage tanks. This also required constant monitoring and maintenance. Running my big old Epson that makes 30" prints, does drink ink, but in the long run, it is not all that expensive to operate.

Why knock yourself out shooting and then entrusting your fine printing to a department store? And... if you don't want to get into printing and are happy with Walmart or whoever, why bother to complain about the costs. Nobody is forcing anyone to print at gunpoint!

Thanks again the the OP!

As for some of the "remarks"-
Y'all may have detected some anger in my post. Racial slurs get me as mad as HELL! Racial jokes have no place on this forum! Don't any of y' all, who think this is funny, watch the news? Young folks are being radicalized by hate groups walking into houses of worship and gunning folks down! Making fun of people's' race, gender, religion or nationality transmits acceptability legitimacy to the crazy folks who commit these murders and assaults on innocent folks. Perhaps these horrific acts start off with a "harmless" racial slur or joke. Hijacking a thread is the least of the issue here! YOU CAN ALWAYS START A NEW THREAD IN A DIFFERENT SECTION WHERE THE MODERATION IS MORE STRICT, BUT YOU CAN'T UNDO THE HARM AND INSULT THAT THIS KINDA GARBAGE CAUSES.

Some of the idiocy that goes on around here makes me want to pack this entire forum in- the lack of respect, kindness, and decorum. This stuff makes me wanna puke. Just for the record, I am Jewish. I was raised in a racially and culturally very mixed and diverse neighborhood in New York City. There were some tensions bet we kids got along, perhaps better than our parents. So maybe it's time for some of y' all to GROW THE HELL UP. Way back in the 60s, I served my then country, in Viet Nam and I re-discovered that everybody's blood and guts art the same color and at their funerals, there were more similarities than differences- everyone was crying the same kinda tears!

This is not about political correctness, it is about HUMAN correctness. Man up and cut the crap!
