Personally I don't have the money to waste on the best type of printer for photographs. I am content to use the ones at the local Walgreens. They work just fine and I don't have to worry about replacing ink cartridges all the time. Maybe I am just lazy but also cheap. Maybe I have some Jewish ancestry somewhere. (:

Wow, you needed to make a stupid offensive joke about Jews?

Printers and color printing forum on UHH.

For letting the general readership know of his gracious offer this is the best place. Take a look at the activity in the printer forum and you'll see what I mean.

Remember when people were not offended by every little thing, we could laugh at each other and laugh at ourselves? I am of Scottish heritage on my mother's side. My grandfather always told Scottish jokes on himself, "I am so Scottish when I squeeze a nickel the buffalo shits". I grew up with Polish friends who would tell jokes about themselves. Nobody took it seriously. It was meant in good fun. But now everyone seems to be offended by just about everything, hand signals that mean nothing except the way the person was holding his hand at that precise moment in time, sacret code words that I still have no idea what they are or what they mean but have black friends tell me that one person or another is a racist because he wished one of them a nice day?????

I am not saying you don't feel offended but I am asking what the big deal is. Do you honestly, in your heart, feel the person was against Jewish people? For all I know he may be Jewish since a Jewish Rabbi I once worked with told the best Jewish jokes of anybody I ever met.

I do my "small" 8X10's at home, my large prints are done by a local graphics print shop. They did my Christmas Cards last year. BTW any one in N.E. Ct. or nearby RI.or Ma. give Chase Graphics-Putnam Ct. a call.

"Cheap Jews" is a vicious, unwarranted epithet. So is greasy wop, drunk Irish, dumb nigger, whatever Scots are insulted with, on and on....

I don't use "cute" insults about any nationality, race, religion. Don't need to do that. Why do you?

These people who are offended about every little thing are called "snowflakes".

People who dismiss racial, ethnic, religious insults as "every little thing" are "ignorant stupid people".

On that note, I'm done talking about this on a photography forum.

Are you saying you prefer answering question privately rather than in the forum?

What subjects do you use "cute" insults about? Inquiring minds want to know.

Wow! You just insulted people who you deem to be ignorant or stupid just because they disagree with you. Whoops there it is!

Come on folks. Let the snipping go and get this thread back on track. A new member has offered his help, lets respect his offer and get back to that.
As far as the other thing goes, work it out in PM's or keep your fingers off the keyboard

Pay attention. I never said I did. I simply pointed out there was a time in America when these things were said and no offense was made nor taken. For the most part they have gone away.

I just reread my post. Nowhere in there did I say I engaged in this type behavior. I pointed out my grandfather told jokes on himself and that Polish people told jokes on themselves. To immediately take offense, and there was probably offense meant, I would have to look at your parting shot and assume you meant to be offensive to me by accusing me of joking about others nationality, race or religion. But of course you ASSUMED I had from reading something in my post that was never there to begin with. Are you starting to get the point now? These days anybody who says anything at all can be labeled a racist, misogynist, anti semite or anti whatever the supposed victim wants to be offended by. Nobody offended you. You only chose to be offended.

Read the entire thread and you will see that other comments are made about, The Dutch and another about Scottish.

What has really been lost is freedom of speech (I thought was guaranteed) and more importantly we have lost tolerance.

Heck, on UHH folks can't even tolerate an off kilter horizon.

This post has been hijacked just as we were exploring the correct cause of printer issues. A shame.

I would venture that perhaps at least half of the printing problems reported on the forum concern prints that are too dark, and the vast majority of the time, the answer is correct monitor calibration (followed by installing the correct profile for the printer/paper and soft proofing). The fix is simple - calibrate your monitor and soft proof. A too bright monitor (most are before calibration) will result in the operator believing the image is at the correct brightness, when in reality, it’s too dark and a dark print results. Although a calibration tool may cost $100-$150, it can pay for itself very quickly by stopping wasted paper and ink. Make sense?
