I generally tend to support US made items as best I can. Lexar is one of the top manufacturers of memory cards and one of the few that are made in the U.S.A.

Check out the ratings. I have not found the need for (Professional) cards. I always use class 10.

32GB class 10 SDHC Samsung shock proof & water proof cards are on sale at buy.com now for $23.99. That's a pretty good deal...

I have not tried the Samsung's I lean toward SanDisk Ultras or Kingston Ultimate class 10's. But I may try the Samsung just to see what they are like. Although my point-n-shoot won’t take a 32GB card, so it would just be storage for me, and my DSLR uses CF cards.
It looks cool.

check your cameras manual to determine the max capacity the camera can use. a 16gb @133x or @400x, class 6 or above should be sufficient for most.

Wise advise to check the camera's manual to verify type and capacity of the memory card compatible to his specific camera.

I'm ordering a lumix FZ200. Haven't decided what SD card to order.thinking of ordering top end lexar professional, xc10 64GB. Price is $133.95. Would I be wasting my money? Any help and advice would be appreciated . Thanks everyone. Only been a member for a few days, but have already learned a lot. Great group, glad I found you all.

These cards are well known for failing especially if used as a storage or viewing device. That large a card makes no sense. Several 8gb / class 10 cards will do just as well. Then if one fails it's not breaking all those eggs you stuck in that single basket.

I carry 3 cards per camera in my bag for a total of 6 and I have yet, even on an extended all day shoot of several hundred come close to filling a single 8gb card on either of my Canon dslr cameras.

During our recent trip to NY City and Niagara Falls, we filled a 32GB Transcend SD Class 10 card.
Since we misplaced our second 32GB card, I had to run and empty the card into 8 dvds.

Never had one fail and if you are doing action you will need a fast card or your camera will stop. It has happened to me in the past.

All of this advice is pretty much on the money.

You might want to find you a manageable card case/holder thing.

I found some little box that hold 8 cards and I clip it to the inside of my camera case, so it never goes anywhere it's not supposed to.

this one I think:

I've used 2,4,8,16 and 32Gig cards. Now I only use 8G SanDisk Extreme. If you shoot some once in a lifetime shots, say 75-100pics, on a 16G card, then store that card for security, you just wasted money.

MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY - copied above

I think you would be making a mistake buying that expensive of a card no matter what size. I have a bunch of 16 & 8 meg class 10 SD cards. My reasoning is simple: They're cheap and if one of my cards craps out, I haven't lost that many pictures. I paid about $9.00 for a 16meg 1 month ago at Microcenter. They have a lifetime, no questions asked replacement warranty. They are the house brand. I think the are made by Kingston and Kingston makes about 90% of the SD cards that are out there. I have had only 2 go south in 2 years. Those ones I kept using over and over again, just like the one I am using now. If I am going to shoot something special, I always use my 8 meg cards just in case something happens, I have not lost a lot of good photos.

I think you guys must be way out of my league. I rarely shoot on anything above Medium /Regular setting on my D90 or Do 80 Nikon. Sometimes I get a Large/Fine request if they photos are going to be heavily cropped. I can get thousands of photos on an 8 gig card. I have never made a building size poster so I get by with small file sizes that regularly go to magazine print. What am I missing here?
