I get headlines from the Washington Post every day. If I wanted to subscribe, I could read the whole paper, but the headlines are depressing enough. Take a look at today, for example.
"China's military is moving faster than the US is adjusting"
"Government standoff jeopardizes air safety"
"Federal offices my suffer brain drain - lack of job security"
"Walmart drops CVS coverage"
Try to refrain from blaming all of this on one political party. This will probably be sent to the Attic fast enough. I believe that greed is behind most of the problems in the USA today.

Greed? Greed is good, its what drives innovation, motivates people to create, the ability to make a profit. Its when corruption, government, excess enter the picture
I get free daily headlines from the New York Times. Ten full articles per month. Anything beyond 10 articles, a block is enforced, and a full subscription is required, if you want to read more articles. Same goes for the LA Times. Largest West Coast Newspaper. Everyone has to make money. The NYT has depressing Headlines too. Ten depressing articles per month is enough for me. A friend told me a long time ago, that the greedy never thinks of the needy.

I like to watch the Sunday Morning news- It's all good news.
The only tV news program I trust is the half hour newsmagazine called "Full Measure", which I find to be as unbiased as possible. Sharyl Attkisson is the host - she also wrote a book called "The Smear: How Shady Political Operatives and Fake News Control What You See, What You Think, and How You Vote" whic I highly recommend - again, not slanted left or right but eye-opening.
As for news magazines, all the US based stuff is shit - I read The Economist each week - it's out of he UK and while self-described liberal (in the real meaning of the word, not the leftist BS that Democrats in the US have perverted the term to mean) it is both very fair-minded most of the time and also covers things globally - not stopping at the country's borders so as to keep Americans utterly ignorant of the rest of the world.
