Good of kcooke to post a shot. But, not so
useful without any HDR "on-vs-off" image
comparison.
I took one raw with no hdr. I can post later after I convert to jpg. That first one I uploaded wirelessly from camera to phone.
By the way I like the music man bass

Notice it's a five-knob FL. Discontinued,
so I keep several on hand ;-)
.
Here is the same picture without use of HDR. Taken raw and converted in Camera to jpeg

In your example the HDR tames the highlights
but the shadow detail seems the same in both.
Your shot is bright daylight, while I usually use
HDR in low light and I usually see improvement
to shadows with no difference in brighter areas.
So it seems that Canon's "6 series" HDR works
from either end.
.
Yes I think so. I don’t think its going to give radical cooked results that some people do with software but I think in Camera HDR does serve a purpose as demonstrated in your photos and to a lesser extent mine. Next time I’m shooting sunset photos I will try it out

The terrific thing about Sony's HDR is that it goes
all the way to 6 stops ! Verrrrrrry effective :-)

Anyone using the new Canon 6D2 built in HDR? Does it work? I am thinking about buying one.
I used it several times with my 5D and find it rather nice! Very useful! You can set it +/- 10 stops and there are many options!
