I think it's a nice portrait. I would probably crop it a bit closer - perhaps to a square?

Great image, James! The B&W rendering is perfect for this subject.

Good Morning again James;
May I have your permission to do a sample of the image using the different values that I suggested?
BTW I think it's an award winning image..

Please do...all of my photos are open for further discussion/processing. This was done using a Topaz Adjust B & W Toned preset. I didn't mess with it too much. I agree it needs something more. The lens on this camera is extremely sharp and shows in the photo. Maybe I should also look into softening it a bit. Anyway, have some fun and enjoy. Looking forward to your version. You can download the original by clicking on the image. That will take you to Flickr. Look for a arrow icon at the lower right (pointing down). That the download button.

James, this on one of the best B&W street photos I have seen! I just sat and stared at the detail! It is simply wonderful! Only complaint is my EXIF program did not give me particulars as it usually does and I would really like to know those. Same RX10III you usually use? If so what technique did you use that give such great clarity? I don't ever seem to get my photos that sharp! (and wondering big time what you are doing that I am not). Simply wonderful! Thanks for sharing.

James, this on one of the best B&W street phot... (show quote)

Hi Tom, lets see if I can remember. You can see the EXIF data on Flickr, just click on the image and it will take you there. Probably had the camera focus area set for center focus. This works great on portraits when the there's just one subject. Of course the Zeiss lens captured the detail, then I used a Photoshop Elements with a Topaz Adjust plug-in to process it. I probably took several shots just to make sure the camera achieved the best focus. I will often shoot a single scene several times. The Topaz plug-in called "Adjust" had a preset called Sharp Black and White that I used.

Hi Folks, found this old fella playing music at a nearby gas station. Well, this was an photo opportunity I just couldn't pass up. Gave him a big tip and he tipped his head to acknowledge me all the while without missing a note. Hope you like this one...I'm not very good at some photos, but this one felt good taking.
