Just checked B&H and Adorama on Fuji X-T2 and X-T3 pricing. A few days ago the X-T2 was $1499 and the X-T3 was $1899, a $400 price difference with both packages including the excellent 18-55mm kit lens. Today they are priced the same. The X-T2 increased $400 to $1899 while the X-T3 remains at $1899, the same price. Wouldn't anyone in their right mind choose the X-T3 over the X-T2 at the same price? What is their pricing strategy? Would anyone here choose the X-T2 over the X-T3 at the same price? Why?

Right now, at Adorama, the XT-2 is $1599 and the XT-3 is $1499. Interesting...

The XT2 & XT3 require fast memory cards to operate at the accelerated level they are capable of. With older & slower cards there are heating challenges that the fast cards eliminate. If the camera senses too much heat is shuts down prior to damage. High tech cameras are requiring high tech cards it seems.

Cheers!

That thought occurred to me. I've been following both on the Fuji Forum and there seems to be a few software problems with the X-T3, like the camera freezing up, requiring the battery be removed and re-inserted, being unable to turn the camera off without removing the battery and minor glitches like that. Those problems seem minor and will likely be fixed with a software update once the Fuji engineers get it figured out.

Amazon shows a significant price variance between the two body only models, $1,329 vs $1,899.

There should be a disclaimer at the bottom in the fine print stating that they will not necessarily honor pricing errors found in the ads. Errors work both ways. I suspect that the X-T2's price is still $1499.

I just checked Adorama. It's $1599 for the XT-2 body only. With the 18-55mm it's still $1899.

The AT-3 is $1499 for the body only. With the $18-55mm it's still $1899

So the XT-2 is $100 more than the XT-3 (body only). Doesn't make any sense at all. Prices seem to change by the minute.

I've seen this sort of thing before. It usually has a mistake or a weird back story to it...

I was told that pricing was set by the manufacturer and not the store. This was told to me by a BH salesman. The stores are very strict to follow this policy.

Yes the manufacturer does set the price as does Nikon. However, the XT-2 being set as the same price as the XT-3 seems a bit strange, since I have heard nothing but praise for this newest model.

I don't know. I hate touch screens, and I am not into videos, so the "improvements" in the X-T3 are partly unwelcome, which is why I did not order one, and will stick with my X-T2 for the meantime - until they bring out the X-T30 which may not have all the unnecessary bells and whistles..

I am lead to believe that the auto-focus is much better in the X-T3 than the X-T2 and the EVF is better in the T3.

Unnecessary bells and whistles aren't for everyone. But, it is a selling point to many, even if you don't use them. Some, will say, if I eventually need it, I have it to use. Better have than not. Some photographers like touch screen, others do not, is an example. Low light capabilities is crucial in any camera, along with fast low light lenses. However, I can see the advantage of having touchscreen. Even though none of my cameras have that feature. I don't use all of my features on my current Nikon crop sensor DSLR. I don't do videos either. My camera is capable of doing 29 minutes of it.

I believe that the $1899 is probably their retail price and there was a promo on the X-T2 since the arrival of the T3, the promo must be over. Have the X-T2 with the pricey little battery grip, love it for old lenses, never have used it with a AF lens. I will say that after years of holding Canon bodies with grips, I don't think that I would like the X-T2 at all without the grip.

I just checked an the X-T3 is more expensive. However, I like the X-T2 made in Japan better.
