Just checked B&H and Adorama on Fuji X-T2 and X-T3 pricing. A few days ago the X-T2 was $1499 and the X-T3 was $1899, a $400 price difference with both packages including the excellent 18-55mm kit lens. Today they are priced the same. The X-T2 increased $400 to $1899 while the X-T3 remains at $1899, the same price. Wouldn't anyone in their right mind choose the X-T3 over the X-T2 at the same price? What is their pricing strategy? Would anyone here choose the X-T2 over the X-T3 at the same price? Why?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Who knows? Of course the people with the correct answer is B&H and Adorama. You could give them a call.

Great question as I recently purchased the X-T3. Maybe a problem with X-T3’s that software can’t fix. So far I love my camera.

Pricing is a mystery that no one can solve. Consider the item. Consider the price. Make a decision.

That thought occurred to me. I've been following both on the Fuji Forum and there seems to be a few software problems with the X-T3, like the camera freezing up, requiring the battery be removed and re-inserted, being unable to turn the camera off without removing the battery and minor glitches like that. Those problems seem minor and will likely be fixed with a software update once the Fuji engineers get it figured out.

I never had any problems but I also have most up to date software. It’s still interesting how an older version camera sells for same price.

Someone made a pricing mistake at the agency responsible for updating their website. That would be my guess.

I believe all of the 2018 holiday/year-end Fujifilm instant rebates have expired. The $1499 price for the X-T2 + 18-55mm zoom was a result of the Fujifilm sponsored price discount. The instant rebates on other Fujifilm bodies and lenses have also largely expired. I do not think that Fuji has done an actual "Price Drop" on the X-T2 yet.

It still does not explain why one would choose the X-T2 over the X-T3 at the same price, unless one wanted a MIJ body (which the X-T3 is not).

I was told that pricing was set by the manufacturer and not the store. This was told to me by a BH salesman. The stores are very strict to follow this policy.

'Made in Japan' - sounds logical to me.

Maybe because it is such a good camera?

It is a great camera but the X-T3 is a bit more advanced which usually means a few more $.
